The buyer's guide suggests to wait and not buy now because iPhone could soon update. Does anybody have any idea around what does "soon" mean? Next week, month, around macworld in 01/09? How are these recommendations made? Was this one made based on recent iTouch update?

Can any one speculate what could be the update like - just memory update?

Thanks for your response.

The new iPhone will be out on 1/15/09. Wait until then.

A new iPhone is not due out until July 2009. The current
iPhone is still selling very strongly, and a recent report showed that the
iPhone was the #1 selling of all cell phones last quarter. It would be pointless
to come out with a new phone as soon as a month and a half from now. Apple
will wait until July 2009, and even then sales of the current iPhone will be still
be strong. Yes, there will be the BB Storm and G1, but there are many people
that will still be choosing the iPhone. Plus, there could be some pretty useful
and awesome Apps (and possibly software updates) by then. Sales will still be strong. In July, though, a new version will be due.

MacWorld 2009 in January ... expect it to NOT be iPhone-centric. In fact, I won't
be expecting anything iPhone in January. Since they did not come out with
new computers or a Touch Tablet this past fall (instead, they showed new iPods), I'm expecting that this is going to be The Big Unveiling of some revolutionary, all-new product, such as a touch-screen tablet computer or something. We'll see. :)

I actually thought we were going to make it 24 hours without someone asking this question. But, we did make it to 22 hours -- a new record!

+1 for waiting until Macworld. A revision to the iphone could come in the form of a capacity increase and/or price drop and I think that's worth the wait. That type of change could come without much fanfare. Apple probably won't boost the chip or make other types of improvements before July however.

I totally agree with barkomatic! Thats why I bought my iPhone 3G last Tuesday :)

yup, your good getting the iPhone now. Next it's just gonna be raised to
The 32 gb nothing else should change. I think I am the only one on mac rumor who doesn't even have music on his iPhone due to my new aluminum MacBook being stolen.
8gb is all I need so I went for it and some
People need up to 16-32gb so some are waiting for the 32 to come out aroundthe begining of next year. It's up to you.

OF COURSE YOU SHOULD WAIT

they are about to come out with a new one

id listen to the buyers guide, not paranoid fan boys ;]

theyre already started shipping the new headsets

that only happens, when a new product is on its way

lol i hope you're joking.

those headsets were announced a long time ago and no one knows if they'll work with the iphone. your post makes no sense.

anyways

it was just announced yesterday

so like someone said earlier, id be on the lookout for a January release :]

I have heard nothing about the release of a new iPhone, where is the information stating this.

The Mac mini's buyers guide still says to wait for a new update for the latest mini, and has for the last 11 months!

Glad I bought one last January.
