My relationship with iPhone began in November 2017 when I bought the iPhone 8. Later I sold it (thought I didn’t need such an expensive phone) and bought the SE only to sell it a few months later as well and buy the 8 Plus. I drop it on the pavement and it got ugly scratches on the display and back so I sold it too and bought the 8 once again just a week ago. My question is, should I sell it and buy one of the new iPhones? I’ve learned that I don’t like Plus form factors, so my only choice is the new 5.8” iPhone X. How do you think it’ll be priced in the Eurozone?

Your next purchase should be a case.

I would say if you have the money, you like one of the new phones coming out, and it makes you happy then go for it. Everyone has vices and to me buying a phone you like seems like an okay vice to me.

I easily sell my 8 for about 600 euros. How much more do you think I’d have to add in order to buy the new X? I’m expecting it to be cheaper than the 1st generation one...

If the rumors are true, the 5.8 iPhone X is slated to start at $899, compared to where the 2017 iPhone X started at $999.

It's so much cheaper in the U.S. I think I will ask someone who happens to travel to the U.S. to buy it there for me.

It only seems cheaper in the US because the sales tax is not included in the advertised price , it is added when you buy it. In the UK VAT is put on the price before it is advertised.

The point is that USA prices are without taxes included. And in Europe our prices are WITH the taxes included.
Think about it and you will see that there is no big difference.

Didn’t know about that. It might still be cheaper though since the euro is stronger.

Don't know what an 8 costs in your part of the eurozone, but in the Netherlands you can get a new one for that price right now. Not through Apple though.

It starts at 829€ either from Apple or not. Certainly prices will drop as soon as the new iPhones are released.

Nope, you're too clumsy.

Why should that influence my decision?

It’ll be most likely around 1000 euros, I believe the X is around 1100 euros? And you don’t really have much choice, unless a new SE is also launched (I do hope so) then the 5.8” is your only option to upgrade from the 8.

It’s up to you if you want to spend the money.

You’ve managed to buy four iPhones in the space of nine months, so I don’t think another is going to hurt.

But seriously, why ask virtual strangers to tell you what you should do? The whole reason there’s such a range of iPhones is that different people have different tastes. What matters is what works for you, not what works for me. There are plenty of written and video reviews of the existing X that will tell you everything you need to know about the usability of the phone, the screen estate etc. Watch them and make a decision for yourself. Then when the new models are unveiled decide between the 5.8 and the 6.1.

The thing is the SE feels too cheap hence why I ditched it and switched to the 8 Plus.
The X starts at 1179€ here. I was hoping the 2nd gen X to start at a price point below 1K€..................

Not sure why the SE would fell ‘cheap’, it’s builr in the iPhone 5 platform which was Apples flagship phone at the time. They even went on about how robots and cameras are used to ensure those back top and bottom plastic bits are all a perfect match.

The 8 probably feels better because of the glass. I have to think what to do next, I’m hoping a new SE with the features I want will come. Not sure about Face ID? I predict the new X won’t be under 1000 euros but you’ll know for sure soon enough.
