I am too late to tell you not to waste your money on the hard drive then. What does she need that space for if she's just gonna facebook.

Maybe because the original hard drive is at least four years old, and a faster newer one will give it a performance boost.

Yes...a new hard drive would be a must for that machine to wake up from the dead. I am sure it runs fine right now with the upgrades. How was changing the HDD, lots of screws right?

Her pictures take up 6GB and music about 13GB. She loves the Sims 2, so there goes another 7GB. I don't doubt there'll be movies on there sooner or later and it's also a selling point if/when it's sold.

New hard drive makes it 2048532 times more quiet and gives it a good speed increase. The screws weren't too horrible, but I am some what of a computer surgeon. I've done plenty of iPods, a white iBook G3 and a Clamshell iBook G3. Not much phases me anymore, haha.

Try changing out the optical drive in a 12" Powerbook :p.

Glad you got that all up and running for her. I'm sure she'll use Limewire so she'll put that hard drive to good use. Great deal on a computer that will still bring years of good use out of it.
