Hi all,
I need a new phone and I'm thinking of buying the iPhone 15. But I also know that a new iPhone will be released in 3 months. But first I need to talk about the situation in Turkiye (Turkey). Here, $1 dollar is around ₺32 (₺ = Turkish lira) on average. (It was 2 lira 10 years ago.) As if that were not enough, the taxes imposed by the state double the price of the phone in dollars. When the iPhone 15 was first released, its price was 49999 lira ($1553). Now Apple sells it for 58499 lira ($1817), but it can be bought for 49399 lira ($1534) on Amazon. Presumably, when the iPhone 16 comes out, its price will be more than ₺58499, the exchange rate will be recalculated, etc. Most likely, the price of the iPhone 15 will remain the same as the price I bought it for. But do you think I will regret it if I buy the iPhone 15 while the new one is 3 months away? I'm also very curious about WWDC; Will I be deprived of some of Apple's new features with the iPhone 15? It is not as easy for us to access these devices as it is in the USA or Europe. That's why it can bore people. I thought about buying a cheap phone that will do for now, but I think it would be a waste of money. On the one hand, buying an Android device seems relatively more affordable. I have used Galaxy S23 before; but I had to sell it. I'm hesitating whether to buy the same one. I have used iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 before. I'm no stranger to Apple. I have a relatively large film and music archive. Like many people, I want to use the best phone, but I am very indecisive. Strange; on the contrary, sometimes I just do whatever comes to my mind.
Best.

Realistically, whatever gets announced at WWDC will work fine on the iPhone 15. It won't be until the 16 comes out that Apple will start talking about things being exclusive to the new model. :p

If the 16 does turn out to be so much better that you regret buying the 15, just sell the 15 and buy the 16. You'll lose a little money but nothing terrible since the 15 should keep most of its value. But if you see the 16 and are still happy with your iPhone 15, then congratulations: you got a great phone for a relatively good price, before exchange rates made things more expensive.

It's the AI features that Apple will likely limit to A17 and newer. Chances are, the AI features at WWDC will only work on iPhone 15 Pro/Max because it has A17 Pro.

If there's some kind of hyper inflation thing happening in Turkey, I'd choose to buy today.

It has not been clear what the prices will be in Turkey for the last 5 years. Risky. Technology editors generally say that if you need something, get it now.

Thank you.

Just buy it.

I bought an iPhone 13 not long before the iPhone 15 came out and I wasn't disappointed or wish I'd have waited.

I understand. If it is possible, that is my intention. The iPhone 13 was technically the first iPhone I ever bought, and I was very sad to have to sell it. If I hadn't sold it, I'd probably still use it and I'm sure it's still very good. Maybe I would buy it again if it wasn't for the nonsense that it's currently sold for $1089, the cheapest price in Turkiye.

People saying the iPhone 15 was bad and not worth the money annoyed me. I was undecided.

There's noting wrong with IP15. Sure, it could be better, it could be fantastic, but that wouldn't leave Apple any wriggle room to fleece us this September and every September into buying the best thing since sliced bread - so they say!

I'd wait for the 16 to be released before making a decision. If it has no significant AI or other improvements I assume that you could still purchase a 15, possibly at a lower price?

Nobody was wondering, but on this page of the web, I want to talk about the developments so as not to leave the generation 100 years from now wondering. I didn't buy iPhone 15 3 months ago. Then I didn't buy it also. When the iPhone 16 was released, the price of the iPhone 15 remained the same or even increased slightly. Maybe there may be some discounts. But it's not very valuable. On the other hand, iPhone 16 is sold for 1900 dollars in Turkey. As I said before, there are incredible taxes in TR. Many taxes such as 799 dollars x exchange rate x 1% x 12% x 50% x 20% + profit are multiplied on top of each other. It's a little overwhelming. Paying $1900 for an $800 device seems foolish. Of course it's a matter of budget. If I had the opportunity and earned more, I would buy it. But after paying that much money, it makes much more sense to buy the iPhone 16 Pro, which sells for $ 2430. I think those who can buy 16 in Turkey can easily buy 16 Pro.

It was a shame that I didn't buy the device at that time because the chances of buying it decreased later; But compared to 15, 16 is much stronger and better. It was good in that respect. The 60hz screen thing is very annoying. But it's beautiful. As I said, of course it is a matter of budget, but pro models should be the first choice. I regret not paying a few thousand more lira to buy the 13 Pro when I bought my first iPhone 13 3 years ago.

I almost bought the iPhone 13 in a store today, which was selling for more than $1000 today. 1000 dollars! (about 1120 dollars to be exact). 3 months rent money. (Minimum wage is less than $3 per hour). Okay, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying these to disparage my country. Just...

We often forget how hard it is when you’re not in a “top” country. I mean economically, the actual markets targeted by apple, North America/Western and northern europe/australia/ some Asian countries

I saw sometimes cheap flights to turkey from Europe wouldn’t it be better for you to like take a trip, stay a few days, get your iPhone and go back to turkey? It might be around the same price but at least you enjoyed a trip too

No. To prevent this, the government made it mandatory to register devices coming from abroad. It's around $1000 now. With operator lines, the device can be used for a certain period of time without registering. However, it is annoying. Moreover, it is not possible to sell it for a few years. However, although it is possible to use it without a SIM card... In Turkey, there is a 2-year warranty instead of 1 year. This is required by law. I don't think the difference is worth the cost of traveling to another country and the loss of +1 year of warranty.

Maybe I will go to another country and not come back. :D Haha, just kidding. It may be a few years, but I can't give up this land. One day, of course, everything will be okay.
