Hello everyone, I’m new in this forum, I can’t really decide if I should buy this 2013 Macbook Pro 15’ for $860 CAD , I need this macbook for video editing, this is gonna be first Mac I’m buying. I have iphone 8plus ,that is why I think it is worth to buy mac.And also I think it is a good price , I won a bid on ebay, I have one day to decide I guess.

Edit: I don’t plan to edit 4k ,all I need is 1080p premiere pro and after effects.
Thanks!

Price seems ok but it’s also not super equipped with 8GB RAM. Battery count is high.

SSD with 256GB is quite small when u intend to do video on it...

But it’s ok to do some work on it. Just expect no wonders.

Why did u spend more for your iPhone than on a work machine?

Iphone was just came out when I bought and there was a good deal, also it is a contract phone.
I just want to survive like 8 months or a year with this macbook, later I will go with new Imac.I just can’t afford it right now .That is why I think this is a good idea, later when I get the Imac I can still use the macbook as a daily laptop.
I just wanted to know if it is worth to price and thank you for letting me that.
By the way there is alao this option same year Imac a bit cheaper than mbp
What do you think about this one?

I recommend you to buy a new Windows machine. You’ll get better spec for money and it will certainly run adobe software better.

Which brand would you recommend?
I was looking for something with at least same specs but new. I didn’t find good options for that price range. I can go up to $1000-1200 CAD for a good machine.

I can't recommend anything specific since I don't have an overview over the windows laptop market anymore and I also don't know the prices in Canada. I'd say look into entry-level gaming laptops, they often make good video editing machines. The only advantages the Mac has is the screen (you probably won't get a decent display in a laptop in your price range) and battery life.

Yeah I was looking for different brand laptops and dekstops also.Portability is not important for me so it doesn’t have to be laptop.I just need best machine for to survive a year the most. But I haven’t find anything so far that has i7 ,8 or 16gb ram for that price range. Surprisingly this macbook pro that I found looks cheaper than some windows machines.I will still research.
Thank You!

The Mac you have quoted doesn't have 16GB RAM either. And its a 5 year old machine. You can get any quad core 15W ultrabook that Windows laptop market is flooded with, and it will perform better. I'd look into something like the Lenovo Thinkpad T480 or Asus UX430UN etc.

I agree with all you said, but an external hard drive is better to use for video editing, where 1TB should be the minimum. 256GB should be enough for his day-to-day computing.
