Well, this machine is something awesome. It's FAST. Very fast, considering it's a Dual 1.25GHz G4, and it does run pretty cool as well (never went over 47°C). It's not so loud, even though the PSU fans aren't the quietest thing in this world. I may replace them any time soon.

I'm going to fully upgrade this Mac in the next couple of days, take it to 2Gb of RAM, install my Radeon 9800 Pro, SATA card... It's gonna be a lot of fun!

Here's a screenshot of the system fully working and running. Tomorrow I'll post some photos of the Mac.

Thanks to everyone that helped me during these weeks, you've all been great!

Cheers!

Enjoy it man, welcome (back, if you've had previous PPC macs) to the PPC community. If this isn't your first PPC Mac, it certainly wont be your last.

I actually have a quite large collection of PowerPC Macs:
- PowerMac G4 MDD Dual 1.25GHz FW800 (this one)
- PowerMac G4 QuickSilver 2001 Dual 800MHz (upgraded from single 733MHz)
- iMac G5 17" iSight 1.9GHz (with failing video chip, already reflowed once, and replaced capacitors)
- PowerBook G4 15" 1.5GHz (my main portable in school)
- iBook G3 Dual USB 500MHz

The only Intel mac I have is my Retina MacBook Pro 13", which I hate. It already had its logic board replaced in warranty due to video issues. Crappy Intel Macs. :D

Very nice, I have a large collection as well:

-PowerMac G5 Dual 2.3GHz (10.5.8)
-PowerMac G4 MDD Dual 1.25GHz (10.5.8)
-iBook G4 1.33GHz (main computer in school) (10.5.8)
-eMac 700MHz (9.2.2)
-Power Macintosh 6100/66 (8.?)
-Power Macintosh 7300 (?)
-Power Macintosh 8500 (?)
-Performa 6360 (?)
-PowerBook G3 Series (Wallstreet) (9.?)

I also have my Late 2011 MacBook Pro 13in, which is beginning to have issues as well. I also have a Macintosh 512ke, which I love.

PS: I'm only 15, :p...

Too cool man! I also had a Dual 2GHz G5, but one of the CPU's gone bad and it's dead.
My dad in his office has the following Macs:
- Macintosh SE FDHD (upgraded to SE/30)
- Macintosh Quadra 700
- Macintosh Quadra 950
- Macintosh Quadra 660AV
- Macintosh Performa 6300 (2x)
- PowerMacintosh 6100
- PowerMacintosh 8600
- PowerMacintosh G3 Desktop
- PowerMac G5 1.6GHz
- PowerBook 5300cs

We also have another Intel iMac at home but it has video issues (9400M)
And I'm 18 :D I just love PowerPC Macs.

Lol, we have another thread for posting macs we have XD. Also, have you tried baking the 9400M? Your mileage may vary, but I did it to my sis's 2600 Pro and she has used it for a year with no issues. She even games on it

I wrote a quick blog post detailing how I did it:

Ok so I upgraded my MDD to 2GB of RAM, added a PCI USB 2.0 card, a SATA card with a 250GB HDD connected to it, and a Radeon 9800 Pro...

I'm a bit worried about the heat generated from the 9800. It's hot, really hot. I don't want to overheat the PSU (the PSU cables are between the fans and the actual PSU board, however the air still comes out of the back so I think it will be fine), so I fitted a PCI slot fan right next to it and downclocked the card a bit with ATIccelerator II.

Here are my settings. Will the card work properly with these frequencies? It seems to stay a bit cooler now, but still hot.

Darn, you dad beat me by one. Perhaps, I'll get another one soon ;) PowerPC Macs are awesome, they are extremely useful, even though they are old. I love my iBook (which im using right now in school), its much less distracting than my iPad Air.

PCI slot fans barely do anything at all. They are a waste of money and electricity and just make noise. What you want is a real fan attached to the heatsink if it doesn't already have a fan. 40mm is a good size. If you want to keep it compact you can use a laptop fan on the side of the heatsink if there is no protruding components in the way. If you have the space then you can use an 80mm fan.
