Right side of wrong
i'm thinking about getting this monitor. if you google it, there are many sites to check it out.

what do you think about this monitor? right now i have a dell 20" widescreen monitor hooked up to my mac pro. i guess i could live without this monitor.

right now it's 10% off at compusa.

Dell 2407 $549 At Their Outlet, 3007WFP $1049

It's a good one. Does it rotate? Dell's selling their old 30" 3007WFPs for $1049 if you want to step all the way up.

Dell 2407WFP are $549 at the Dell outlet store.

What's the net price at CompUSA?

thanks. yeah it rotates. and it has DVI-D with HCDP input.

it's like $610 plus tax

If it's about money get the Dell 2407WFP for $549 at their outlet. Dell has HCDP in also.

What's DVI-D mean?

well, according to what i've read, the Gateway can do 1:1 1080p scaling (for xbox 360 and such)

i'm kinda leaning towards the gateway right now

do you have that Dell?

Is 2" worth the extra $300.. Gateway has a sick 22" that is a beauty for 299 on sale at compusa... all black.. very nice.

just so you know, circuit city has the same for just under $630. i'm not sure how great CC's return/exchange policy is, but i'd rather get it at CC in case anything goes wrong.

yeah i have to have 23" or bigger.....for the 1920 x 1200 resolution. gotta have that.

you are right. i might as well get the one from circuit city, cuz the one at compusa is the display one also. might as well get one in the box

Do Not by gateway.

normally i agree. but i've read some reviews on this new monitor, and it seems to be pretty good.

That's a decent price on that size screen, so if you're comfortable with Gateway I'd go with it. I haven't used any Gateway's for anything HD, but the setup my parents have (19" Gateway LCD) is pretty decent, and they havent had any troubles.

thanks. that makes me feel a little better about buying it.

for those that don't think i should get the Gateway, could you point me in the right direction of a better 23-24" monitor?

i'd like to also use it for my xbox 360, and i'll be watching HDTV from my eyetv hybrid as well.

so basically it's my monitor and tv

thanks

I've had the 19" Gateway model since Christmas. Sure, I'd of loved the 22" or 24", but they were quite a bit out of my mom's gift-buying pricerange. :p

Currently, I have my Macbook connected to it for desktop extension via DVI, and it looks great. The image is sharp, and looks comparable to the clarity of my Macbook. I can tell the colors are a wee bit off, but I haven't done any calibrating or anything, so it must not bother me too much.

I also have my Xbox 360 hooked up to it via VGA. Normally, I keep my X360 connected to the HDTV behind me via component, but it's nice to play games at my desk from time to time. The colors are a bit duller than on my TV, but I think that's just normal for a VGA connection. No ghosting though, and a pretty sharp picture.

Is it the best monitor ever? No, not really. But I like it a lot, am very happy with it, and have no complaints.

thanks for the reply.

maybe gateway isn't that bad after all....

well i just got back from the store with this monitor, and i just set it up. i ended up getting it from circuit city, so just in case something is wrong with it. no dead pixels that i can see!

man, this thing is huge!

Many things aren't as great as people go on and on about them online...and many things aren't as bad as people make them out to be online. Gateway wouldn't necessarily be my first choice of monitor, but this one does seem to be a pretty good one. Sounds like you probably made a good call. Time will tell.

so far so good. 1080p with my xbox 360 looks great as well. this thing is huge though.

well maybe i shouldn't have gotten this monitor......

ok, i had my mac pro hooked up to it, and my xbox 360 hooked up (VGA). i switched from the xbox to the mac, and somehow the Picture-n-picture came up. i tried to hit the menu button, but nothing.

so i finally had to just unplug the monitor.....and it hasn't worked since.

i've unplugged and plugged back in at the outlet, and then i did the same on the monitor....and the power light came on once.....but i couldn't turn it on.....

now not even the light is on.....

any ideas on what it could be ?

i'm thinking i should just take it back, and just get my money back.....what do ya'll think?

well i tried it, and still nothing.....i think the power supply fried in the monitor, but not sure.

another question, how do i change the preferences to my other monitor? i can't see everything on it (can't see the dock and stuff, cuz it was set to the other monitor)

i googled for the keyboard shortcuts, but no go
