This is inconsequential, but just throwing it out there -- is it more advantageous to buy a new 16" MBP with my Apple Card for 3% cash back ($75) or my Amex (+1 year of warranty, plus whatever protections they have against theft/damage)? What's everyone else doing?

With an assumption that your AMEX provides at least 1%, you're getting the extra protection for $50. Is that worth it to you or would you spend that $50 on AppleCare+?

I thought about this too. In the end I went with using my Apple Card instead of Amex, as I was going to get AppleCare+ regardless (and now that AppleCare+ can be done on a rolling annual basis instead of having to do it all in one-shot for 3 years coverage). The 3% Apple Cash is also more easily "useable" than Amex Membership Rewards points, which tend to be best when converting into airline miles / converting into flights (which are more lumpy).

Depending on the AmEx you have, the 90 day accidental damage coverage may only cover up to $1000, so this wouldn’t be an advantage.

Many credit card warranties, probably including Amex (but check your specific card) and definitely including Citi’s Costco card, stack on top of AppleCare+. It wouldn’t be a waste if you get AC+ on a card with better purchase protections.
