I have upgraded my MBP 13 Late 2013 from stock 256 GB to 480 GB Transcend 850 Jetdrive. Price has dropped to around 215 EUR last month.

I had 2 issues, so I'm posting here as it could be useful for others:
  • Make macOS USB bootable drive before starting anything. Minimum for this drive is High Sierra and I've used Mojave. This could have saved me some time if I knew it.
  • After installation, only user directory was restored from Time Machine backup. It seems that some settings were transferred too, because JetDrive toolbox application was crashing when started. Main issue was that Macbook was crashing after being several hours in sleep mode or when waking from hibernation. Fix that finally resolved the issue was to create one more admin user, log in with new user, start JetDrive toolbox application and enable System Optimize option. After this new user can be deleted. Application is still crashing with my user, but at least there are no more crashes in sleep mode.

I have been reading your thread alejandro and am typing this response using my 2012 11inch MBA. I think you did the right thing refreshing your MBA and gave it a few more years of life depending on what you will be using it for... I say this because your MBA is using the older, much more reliable scissor-type keyboard and you will have a reliable and portable laptop.:)
