Should I disable both Java and Javascript (security)?

I recently read an article that advised to disable (they actually said uninstall!) Java because of security risks. I decided to disable Java in my browser (Safari), but am also wondering - should disable Javascript? Thanks.
 
Java and javascript are 2 totally different things. They have nothing to do with eachother.
