You can get right now a Note 4.
6 Plus is a way to overpriced for its specs (dual core, 1 GB ram, etc).

You're comparing a Note 4 with the iPhone 6? Dude, the Note 4 is horrible in build quality alone compared to the iPhone 6. In addition, iOS is way better, and the iPhone 6 performs better than the Note with those "overpriced specs."

The Note 4 build quality actually isn't bad. Of course Samsung cripples its own devices with its horrible software. Then again, iOS 8 runs really bad on the 6/6+. Nothing like how iOS use to run.

So, I have been an iPhone user since day one and always tended to upgrade every 2 years resulting in me having the non "s" versions.

Considering your refresh approach includes a level of longevity and as you couldn't afford to refresh last I'm going to suggest contrary to most of the prior advise that you wait for the new version.

This is purely on the basis that the newer model will continue to support the new iOS features for longer than the current 6.

If that's not your approach, if you want more features/cosmetics earlier in the life in the product and if you are finding the 5 already ineffective then you should refresh now.

Also I have to ask, why the 6+ and not just the 6? moving from the 5s to a 6 was fine to me... personally I see the 6+ as more of a phablet replacement and almost impracticable due to its size as a phone.

I've owned EVERY iPhone that has been released and the 6 Plus is my favorite. This kind of stands to reason, given that each release brings upgraded specs. But for me, the screen size is perfect. Battery life is great. It's easily the best iPhone I've ever owned.

The 6s Plus (okay...the naming convention leaves a little to be desired) will be even better...but the next version is ALWAYS going to be better.

I say go for it. When the next iteration comes out, sell this one (get Apple Care--it's a good selling point when it comes time to sell it) and then get the new one.

Why not? They are both phablets and are often cross-shopped by buyers who don't immediately buy into whatever companies shoves down their throats.

I do give the build quality looks to the iPhone, but quality? I haven't heard reports of the Note 4 bending... They are very durable phones.

iOS is not "way better", it may be better for you, but that's not a proven fact for everyone.

Overpriced specs? It's cheaper than the iPhone with better "specs". Besides, you can buy factory refurbished models for under $500.

Are you really comparing the Snapdragon 805 with the A8 chip? Except for the RAM I'd hardly call the 6+ overpriced for the specs. If Apple went higher than 1080p there would be decreased battery and thermal issues. The A8 is a 64 bit dual core CPU that has significantly better single thread performance than the Snapdragon 805 has at a lower clock speed increasing battery life as well. If anything, they are the high end of their respective OSes. I'd hardly call 6+ 'overpriced' if you're going to compared spec to spec.

I'm sorry, but $850 for a 64GB 6+ is overpriced for a phone. That's easily $200 more than many high end Android phones.

I would wait. I skipped the 5 because I wanted to get on the "s" release schedule. Just look back to the past. The 4 was way worse than the 4s. The 5s blew the 5 out of the water. Now, I expect a similar jump this time around. At this point it would be dumb to get the 6 plus, your half way there. Then, you'll be on track to get the 7s or whatever it is at that time.

I'm waiting for the 6+s skip the 6+ as just like the 4 & 5 the s has all the updated fixes and changes which is more worth while.

Buy now and wait for the 7. No matter what you buy it will be obsolete in 6 months anyways. Even if you hold off for the 6S+ you will be wanting the 7.

You make good points but saying its "dumb" to get a barely 5 month old phone is silly. With this logic, unless you purchase a phone at launch then you should wait for the next launch. There's always going to be a better phone. Buy now and get a 7 when it comes out which will have everything the 6s has and more.

If I'd just been through a personal financial crisis, I'd wait. Your 5 is good for another couple of years. Save your spare cash for now.

That way, you get to savor all the delicious rumors and anticipation of the 6s launch. That's a priceless part of the whole iphone experience.

And when MacRumors lights up in the summer with 6s leaks and all manner of breathless buzz, you get to say: "Yup! That's my next phone they're all drooling over!" :)

Why would you want to pass on all that?

On the camera forums we have the same discussion. To which one response is to think about all the great shots you will be taking between now and the next new hardware development.

Think of it this way. You will be paying full price to have an iPhone that will have the current technology for 7 more months. If you had bought it on release day for full price, you would have had an iPhone that has the current technology for 12 months. Which sounds like a better deal to you? If you are fine with that, then buy it. Otherwise, it sounds like your current iPhone is still working.

This makes no sense. Will his 6 plus cease to work when the next phone is released? It's not like he is buying it a few weeks before the next release. What's the difference with buying it now or buying it 5 months ago?

This logic makes no sense. You can say that for the non-S cycle too. The 4 killed the 3GS, the 5 was way better than the 4S, the 6 blows the 5S out of the water, etc.

I'm in the same position as you, and I have a 5 looking to upgrade. I'm looking at Android as an option because honestly I'm getting sick of iOS's performance and bugs (not that Android doesn't have them, but still).

I've tried out Lollipop and it's so much more fluid on a Nexus 5 that's just over a year old. Is the Nexus 6 worth it or should I look at other options?

I say buy it now. The "s" version will only add more ram and a slightly faster processor. So it will not be much difference. So don't let that stop you......

More RAM will make *all* the difference actually.

I don't think most people will notice the difference TBH.......
Some will based on how they use their iphone( multiple tabs in Safari) but most will not notice.

After seven years of seeing how Apple upgrades their phones, you really should be able to know if its worth it to you. You know the kinds things the regular and S upgrades bring.

You've managed this long on your phone so odds are you can probably wait another half year.

It really depends on whether you want to be synced to the regular or S upgrade cycle.

For your sake I certainly hope it makes all the difference so you can find something else to complain about.

Why are you on the forum then, to wax lyrical about Apple?

I simply cannot fathom how anyone could not notice the RAM limitations multiple times per day, but there you go.

I know better than to get into a debate with you about Apple. And I don't get on here and lament Apple one way or the other. I do enjoy the banter about Apple products. It's just gotten a bit old to see you pop up in every thread and go on and on about the RAM issue. I don't see why you continue to own the phone to be honest. It doesn't appear that you enjoy it. I for one, despite everything you say negative do enjoy my phone. But some people tend to project their feelings on everyone else and make us feel like were stupid for not realizing how poor this phone really is.

You're so very wrong. I don't pop up in every thread and go on about the RAM issue at all. I post in a variety of threads about different things and comment both positively and negatively. If the 'RAM issue' is being discussed then I will comment, but never have I started a thread about it with the 6 or 6+.
One thing's for certain though, this is a serious and fundamental flaw. Too right I'll comment, and negatively too.
Some people moan a heck of a lot about bugs and issues which don't affect me in the slightest. Should they sell up too?

Value. All smartphone technology is expensive and has a relatively short lifespan -- especially after a few software updates. Buying an iPhone in the middle of its cycle means you've essentially lost the amount of useful life since it was released. In this case, the iPhone 6/6+ was released on day one with substandard RAM, which means its useful life will be even shorter than normal.
