should I get a new mouse?

I have a 13" MBP 2015 using it with the MX Performance. Even though I'm using logitech's software to customize buttons, it doesn't 100% work. Only thing works the button for mission control. Scrolling is not as smooth as I'd like it to be (in windows it's awesome).

Should I look for a different mouse (no apple mouse, plz)? Recommendations?

I'd say yes, because, you're not happy with your current mouse.

OP:

I've used Logitech mice for years, and have NEVER used Logitech's driver software to control them.

Instead, I use either USB Overdrive or SteerMouse.

Lately, Steermouse has been looking very good. I suggest you download the latest beta version, install it and give it a run-through (DISable Logitech's software first).

Give it a try, and it may breathe new life into your existing mouse.

I have the MX master, and although it had some hiccups in the past, the current drivers are pretty good.
