Should I get a used iMac + gaming PC or wait?

I'm waiting for the new iMac with new specs in October, but man is it hard! I will mostly use it for web browsing and basic photo and video editing. I don't have a 4k camera now, but will probably upgrade to an iPhone 8 eventually. I need higher specs for my addiction to Civilization VI though. Lately I've been toying around with the idea of getting a low cost iMac that will run Civ VI on low-medium settings, and getting a complementary gaming PC later on. The total price would be around the same I'm willing to pay for a new iMac. Now I have my eyes on this one:

    iMac 27" late 2013

    3,5GHz i7
    16 GB Ram
    Nvidia GTX 780M 4GB
    1 TB Fusion Drive

Does this sound lika a good idea, or should I wait until October? My old 2006 Mac Pro is slowly dying on me, but I think it'll hold out until October. While it may sound wise to get a gaming PC, I also really hate the idea of having two big screens on my desk.

If Civilization VI is the only game you need to run, my view would be, that the money is better spent on an iMac to do it all.

The listed Mac should do fine. It certainly seems to keep up with its more modern siblings :)
(The benchmarks for graphics card seems to be better/on par with current 27" iMacs)

I have never played Civilization VI, so I am not aware of the requirements for the game, or what the graphics settings could be, on the listed system.
Maybe someone else in here has an idea about that.

I'm in a somewhat similar boat, just differing modivations. I went with a 2013 iMac for my son, since I got tired waiting for an updated mini.

I'm also building a PC, because I've given up on Apple taking care of Mac users. I'll survive with my 2012 MBP, until they make the MBP a little more usable for those of us not living years in the future.

But if I were you, I would hold out, given their recent announcement. It will be tough, but you can do it.

The one where they admitted that they totally botched anything/everything Pro.

Because of this, Apple said they would release a more pro focused iMac in the future. Of course that will come at a hefty price, so please consider that in your decision making.

Yes. Considering I'm getting away with more than 50% compared to what I was planing on spending in the first place, I think it's the 'grown up' thing to do. :D

Well, I bought it and it really seems to be perfect for my needs. I haven't tried everything yet, but Civilization VI runs flawlessly on high settings, at least in the beginning of the game. I did a thorough search on the net before buying and couldn't find much on it, so I just wanted to share this if anyone's in a similar position.
