So this is the problems that Im having now, ps4 is for playing game but my parents dont want me to buy. And my parents say if I dont buy ps4 I will get a ipad mini. I need opinion which one should i get..
I'd say get neither. Go outside and play.

How old are you? If in HS, I'd suggest getting an iPad as it will probably have more use for you. In my personal opinion, I cannot possibly provide a valid reason for anyone to buy a game console - but that is me.

mini.

The PS4 is not for losers per se, but think of all the "cool" people you know that play video games a lot (not occasionally... but the type who play more than a few hours a day...). Chances are you can't think of any, because they generally don't exist.

In our society, the "cool" people generally socialize in real life, and the mini allows you to do that AND game on the side. Heck, they just released the best port of SWKOTR this week, and no one will claim that game is "casual".

The graphics may not be bleeding edge, but you can do PLENTY of hardcore gaming on the mini should you desire to. And if a hot girl sees you using a mini it won't be an instant deal killer...

Just saying :D

Game console if all your friends play the same thing. It's a lot more fun when you have friends playing online with you. You also get to play on a larger screen (TV) and hand eye coordination helps!

Why are you comparing a dedicated gaming console with a media consumption device. And if you cant wait for more than 10 seconds for things you love, then you really dont love gaming to being with. :)
Depends on how casual you are.

PS3: Boot device 10s, update system 4mins, reboot 10s, update game 3mins, load game 20s, go through menus to actually play 15s.
iPad: Unlock 2s, find icon 3s, load game 1-5s, go through menus to actually play 5s.

So there.

On PS3 I actually had experiences like that quite often when booting infrequently to MW2 MP.

People who worry about what the "cool" people are doing are not cool. And most of the people that society considers "cool" are not in the least bit cool.

Now that I think about it, your post could have been written by the CEO of Abercrombie and Fitch.

I play pretty frequently on my PS3 and my experience is nothing like that. Games don't update THAT often and Sony updates the system maybe once a month.

No comparison

The iPad Mini doesn't even have a disc drive, let alone a Blu-ray drive. Hook up the PS4 to a portable screen, and it instantly becomes a portable gaming station. You could use the PS4 w/ portable screen plugged into literally any power outlet anywhere, but the Mini forces you into using a battery. A luggage rack could easily hold the PS4 w/ portable screen combo, but the Mini won't even fit into a breast pocket.

Dont like touch screens? Too bad! The Mini will force you into touching the screen on a daily basis.

Too easy.

Refurb or preowned ps3 from a seller AND a refurb or preowned ipad Mini. Just keep your eyes peeled for good prices.

Next question. :)

And please do not tell your parents I was the one who recommended this.

And I don't even need to think about it to know the CEO of AC&Fitch is a wealthy, wealthy person, and far more popular and "cool" than you or I will ever be.

The people that society consider "cool" are by DEFINITION the "cool" ones. "Cool" is indeed a perception, and if the majority of people believe in that perception, well, there ya go... they're "cool"

Norms of society (being cool, being attractive, being a nerd, being a gang-banger) are somewhat subjective, but they aren't entirely untrue, especially just because you don't like the fact that society views most people who spend hours a day on console gaming UN"cool".

It is what it is. Hate on popular companies all you want, but the odds are it's because you are either anti-establishment or so painfully UN"cool" yourself that you can't pull off (or afford) whatever it they're offering. Is that a generality? Of course it is. But it is a CORRECT generality. If it wasn't, Rolex would be out of business.

"Cool" is subjective, but not to the point of being completely undefineable...

Paris Hilton and the Kardasians are great examples of people that popular society thought and currently think are cool.

And read up on the CEO of AC&F's opinion of clothes in larger sizes before you weigh in on how cool he really is. It is interesting that you went to his wealth when discussing how cool he might be.

It's been shown that surgeons who were avid gamers have better hand eye coordination than those who were non gamers. So if the OP wants to spend his time gaming on a PS4, more power to him.

iPad cold-boot time is longer than PS3. If you reboot both occasionally, PS3 will be faster.
Looking for icons is easy if you only have 20 apps. The same goes with PS3, the fewer items you have, less clutter it is.

PS3 full update weighs around 300MB while iPad is what? 800MB? To download it alone takes longer. All PS3 needs is OTA delta update and it will be fine.

Load game disc takes forever. iPad games do not have disc, but so disk-less PSN Store purchased games also load faster.
If PS3 games only weigh 500MB or less like iPad games with tiny graphics and low res/effect 3d models, than it will load even faster.

After all that, PS3 still connected to typically bigger screen, surround sound system, and controller with real buttons with great tactile and accuracy. While iPad is limited to headphone jack and a pile mess of cable, adapter, and charger just to get it connected to your TV.

Point is, you're comparing it wrong. PS3 could be a limo, and iPad a sport bike. Just because sport bike seem faster at some thing, it does not fit on red carpet dining.
How about getting both for their own purpose? Have you ever thought of that?

Perhaps because this sample size is shown to improve hand eye coordination in general?

These studies are absolute nonsense and they prove the obvious. Yes, 15-20 year olds reaction times and hand to eye coordination generally improve in this age range. Based on statistical data insurance companies also know the 25-30 age range has even better reactions times and hand to eye coordination. Especially when you focus on improving these skills. However, this has nothing to do with gaming. It is expected as you get older your skill sets will improve in these areas.

What I would like to see is a study done on the 70-75 age range. Do you know why they don't pick this sample? Because it will only serve to show the obvious. People older than 70 will generally experience a decrease in reaction times and hand to eye coordination. Regardless of whether you try to improve these skills.

The studies had to do with operating the surgical equipment, not just reaction times. So if a high school gamer is already equal to a resident with these skills how do you think that gamer will be with the additional experience that the resident has?

Regardless, there is nothign wring with spending your time gaming if that's what you want to do.

What does a high school gamer have to do with a resident? Handling sophisticated surgical equipment has nothing to do with handling a gamepad or gaming. Especially when dealing with a situation where someone else's life in your hands. I don't follow how hand to eye coordination or anything of that sort will help anyone in a real life or death scenario. A surgeon has to have a skill set that extend far beyond the bare minimum. These studies that are out to push an agenda, man, I tell ya.

Regardless, there is nothign wring with spending your time gaming if that's what you want to do.

Sure, but would you at least agree there are better things to do with your time? Like learning a new skill set by reading technical books on your iPad? :apple:

The studies showed that high school gamers handled robotic surgical equipment as well as resident surgeons. So give those gamers the same additional training as the residents and they will be better.

Like bickering on MacRumors. I agree. :D

I did have both, I'm not op. That's why I know what I'm saying when I'm comparing them.
