It might be a little early to ask this, but:
I currently have an iPhone 5c, and I want to upgrade. Should I upgrade to the 6s this September (assuming it does come out then)? Or wait for the iPhone 7? I'm a little worried about my 5c dropping in value even more, so I don't want to put it off too long, but I feel like waiting for the 7 would be more worth it. (The new number usually means new design/physical features, while the letter usually means internal improvements like processor, ram, camera etc.
I want the 6s, it'll be here sooner, and I'll have it sooner, but the 7 may be more worthwhile. (I'm not a particularly patient person.) I think I'll wait until rumors start coming out about the 7 after the 6s has been released, and decide then. Any advice anyone?

if you like what you see when Apple announce the iPhone 6s then get that one, personally I'm really happy with my iPhone 6 Plus, so unless Apple do anything major i will be sticking with it. However coming from a iPhone 5c you may want to upgrade that is up to you tho. Personally i'm more looking forward to seeing the iPad Pro than the iPhone's this year (going from rumours about the new iPhones)

It is stupid to speculate about the iPhone 7, since the 6s isn't even out yet. And your 5C drops in value for every day.

I am not sure what you want us to tell you, since you are the only one who can judge what you want or need.

The only thing you really ask in your OP is "Does the iPhone 7 have newer technology than the iPhone 6s?" - Well, duh.

Since both phones are not even out yet, why bother even trying to figure out what to buy. Wait and see.

The 6s will be a huge upgrade from the 5c in every way. In your position, I would definitely not want to wait for the 7.

I'm probably returning to Apple with the 6S. Just depends on if Apple gets the RAM and camera to a competitive place.

It's up to Apple to earn my business again.

From an iPhone 5c to a iPhone 6/+ or 6s will be a huge improvement. I'd personally maybe wait for the 6s to come out then compare the 6/6+ & 6s.

I have a 6+ at the moment and I don't think the 6+S will be an improvement, unless there is something that comes out the woodwork that no one knows of.

Until then iPhone 7 will be next upgrade.

Obviously if you can wait the 7 will be the better update. We still don't know the specifics of the 6S so it's very difficult to make a recommendation. If Apple keeps its same trend, then the 7 would be the route to go. But if apple deviates and let's say releases the 6S with better displays and 2GB of ram or more, then I would say go with the 6S.

I think the 5C will run iOS 9 pretty well so you could likely get another years use out of it.
