Not sure what the difference is aside from the fact that the airport version is newer and 802.11ac. But I think I'd be ok with n, plus it's $100 cheaper. I'm looking for a network drive for time machine backups and sharing across all my Apple devices. Are there any useful features exclusive to the new version that I should know about? Besides 802.11ac.

The two devices I'm looking at:
    Refurb Time Capsule (2011)
    Refurb AirPort Time Capsule (2013)

I should note my connection is 25 down 15 up.

    Worth a read: http://www.macworld.com/article/204...ples-new-airport-time-capsule-a-good-buy.html

If file sharing speed is important (i.e. large files you need to transfer quickly) and/or you need extended range, then the newer one might be worth getting. Especially if you have or forsee getting any 802.11ac devices in the next couple of years.

Personally I'd probably just go with the older/cheaper version though; I'm not into movies or large media collections and the only device that'd benefit from faster network speeds would already be on hardwired ethernet. YMMV.
