Some professional music porducers say that there is little or no noticable difference in power from the macbook pro to the macbook in use. This graphics card thing worries me, as does plastic cracking...any thoughts? I'm currently deciding too.

What are the frotside bus specs on the current macbook/pro lines...cant find them.

Info about FSB is on MB's and MBP's specs page, but if you can't find it, its 800 MHZ on both.

To OP:

The size of pixels is identical on MB and 15" MBP, so every object on screen wil have the same size. Pro has more pixels though, so you have more space for windows, etc.

Regarding DVDs: the display is much MUCH better on the Pro. Not only it shows truer colors and has LED backlighting , but it also has significantly better viewing angles! On a MB's screen you can't adjust the position so that it displays a solid color without darkened top and lightened bottom - a thing to consider if you plan to watch movies on it.
