    Hi all,

I was wondering what is the best for my MacBook in terms of power? So for example should I keep it on all of the time? Should I switch it off at night? Should I power it down whilst it is charging?

    Thank you!

Just close the lid and it will enter sleep mode. Power consumption in this state is very low.

But surely I would unnecessarily use battery cycles and degrade the battery faster in this situation?

Leave it plugged in then, honestly there is not a lot you can do a battery will last between 3 and 5years before it needs replacing and nothing you do or don't do will change that.

Use it however you wish and is convenient for you as that is why you bought it.

Nope... won't hurt a thing. It has electronics built in to protect against overcharging.

Like Samuelsan2001 said, just use it however you need to and don't worry about the battery. It will take car of itself.

Here is some official info from Apple that might help you.
