I am selling my 64GB iPhone 6+ since it was just replaced by Apple and can be sold with an Apple warranty. I have enjoyed my iP6+ and although my hands are plenty big for it, I have found it difficult for travel. It just doesn't fit well in my pockets or even in my car. Consequently, I am looking to move down in size.

I am considering an SE model for several reasons: (1) it is cheap for 64GB and represents a minimal investment in case I want to upgrade next year with Apple's redesigned iPhone, (2) it has the same internals as the 6S except for the front-facing camera, lower contrast screen, and lower LTE speeds (150mbps vs 300 mbps), and (3) it should be very easy to carry with me in my pockets. My only two concerns are (1) the lower quality screen and more importantly (2) the lack of OIS. Has anyone made this transition from the 6+ to another iPhone without OIS and missed the OIS?

I am also considering purchasing an iP7 since it is the newest 4.7" form factor with better internals and screen than the 6S, including OIS. However, my concern is (1) the investment would likely deter me from purchasing next year's model which sounds nice and (2) the need to purchase an adapter when using the phone on long-distance trips in my car--I often have to charge while traveling [edit: and using the audio out]. If I can't sell my iPhone 6+, I will have to trade it in and then I will have no choice but to [edit: buy] the iP7.

Thoughts?

Why not just get a 6S? Cheaper than the 7 but better than the SE.

I went from a 6+ to the 7+, but I don't have any issues with the size.

If you absolutely can't get the 7+, I guess the 7 is the way to go. I've found a few features that the newer phones have that the SE doesn't are actually useful, 3DTouch for example.

I went from a 6S to an SE and I've loved it. To be honest I didn't utilize 3D Touch enough and I still don't quite see it being a "must have" feature yet. I love the smaller screen size and as dumb as this might sound I like that it rests on a surface without becoming wobbly. The screen resolution is a little bit of a disappointment but it's still perfectly fine and most days I'm easily able to make it through a whole day with moderate use. I'm planning on keeping this and waiting to see what comes of next years iPhone otherwise I'll keep this until it dies. I understand Apple's decision not to immediately update the SE in the near future but I do hope that Apple keeps a 4 inch phone in their lineup even if it only receives an upgrade every other year or so.

Thank you all for your feedback. Unless I am forced to trade in my iPhone 6 Plus, I plan to purchase an SE and see what Apple does next year. Unfortunately, I just missed an early Black Friday deal at Sam's Club--they were all sold out.

How much did you get for your 6+? I'm thinking of selling mine and getting an SE on Black Friday.

The SE is a fantastic phone if you can deal with the smaller screen size.. I have the 64GB version of the SE and love it.. The screen resolution is fine for a 4" screen and I never used force touch on the 6S anyways so no big deal for me to loose that..

Sold my 6+ (for $375) and bought a 64GB SE. Enjoying it immensely. Cheers.

Edit: PS--It was a little less than I wanted but the cost difference for the SE, Apple leather case, and glass screen protector came in under $150. I probably spent that much or more in time and gas taking my FOUR 6 Pluses to have them replaced for failing logic boards.

The SE is a great phone. It has long battery life, fast CPU, and compact size.

The only reason not to get one is if you must have a wider angle high-resolution display.

Another vote for the SE. For a 4" screen, it packs a lot of punch (not to mention has the same internals as the 6s). Then you can at least get the new iPhone that is released next year with minimal commitment.
