Its a long story, but believe it or not I happen to have a brand new, still sealed in the original box 2008 24" iMac sitting in my closet. I've had it since it was purchased new at Christmas '08. Up until now, I haven't had a need for a desktop. I am wondering if I should open it and use it or try and sell it to get new macbook (which I am using now). Would there be a market for a new 2008 iMac?

I'm sure there would be a buyer, although I don't know how much you could get for it, as the newest iMacs have newer parts and can be had for a lot less than you paid for that particular iMac. I say if you have it and you don't have heavy computing needs, bust it out and use it. It's still a great machine.

I say keep it. Computers drop in value like flies due to the speed the technology moves. You should have either 128 or 256mb video ram compared to today's 1028mb VRAM, as well that iMac has a front side bus where the new ones have no front bus and jump between quad cores improving speed greatly.

With all the technology that has virtually erupted in the last 2 years you would really need to use the computer and enjoy it to get any satisfactory return out of it. I would not sell it at ALL...... But rather try and organize a trade deal.
