Should I press the button on top when done using it?

Sorry if this is an FAQ...when I'm done using my iPhone should I press the button on the top or just let it go to sleep on it's own?

Is there any difference in battery life?

The iPhone goes to sleep pretty quick so I don't think you will be losing that much battery power. However, if you are putting your iPhone in a bag or pocket make sure to put that sucker to sleep so you don't push anything accidentally!

I'd press the top button when your done...but even if you dont it falls asleep (same effect as pushing the button) in a few seconds.
