I'm glad you can understand the concerns... which to me have
nothing to do with color calibration. It's the glossy I don't like. Why is this so hard for those of you who
do like it... to understand? So you like it. I'm happy for you. There's nothing you can say to make me like it. Honest. I wish it weren't so, Joe, but it is.

I really don't need saving... or convincing, although I do appreciate your desire to set those of us you feel have gone astray, straight.
Someone's got an ego don't they?

Who said I was talking to you anyways? I could care less which model of computer you want, I was strictly stating an opinion based on my experience. Like whatever you want. If you don't think color calibration isn't a concern with some users then you haven't been paying attention.
I think you fall into the trap of believing
your opinion is objective, and someone who doesn't agree with you, well
their opinion is somehow biased... or jealous.

I see this type of argument made on FoxNews all the time about moderate and liberal viewpoints - how they're all part of a "liberal agenda" so "obviously, they aren't valid, and can't be taken seriously." (typical Hannity or O'Reilly stuff)
I'm one who doesn't find the new design elements of the new MBPs to be attractive. Sorry. I just don't find them attractive compared to the "classic" design. Would I like an updated "classic" design? Sure. Leave it one color, gray, aluminum, graphite, whatever, just understated and clean. Update some things, mainly in the internals. The outer design wasn't screaming for a facelift, at least not by anyone I know who uses them for a living. They were more interested in reliability, power, connectivity, serviceability, display resolution, and things like that.
I'm sure the design cues (glassy/black/chicklets/cool battery lights/no button trackpad, etc) of the new models had nothing to do with answering the upgrade needs of someone using it primarily as a work tool, but instead anwered the upgrade desires of all the folks griping about the "outdated looks" of the previous model. And thats fine. It's Apple's choice. They obviously hit the mark with a lot of people, but honestly... to me... the old ones were just classier looking. Not as trendy, of course, but classy. My opinion, mind you. I've considered it in my mind long enough to be sure of how I feel. So, please lay off the "biased or jealous" BS... okay?

You're way off base here cowboy. Some posters in here have been ripping the new machine unfairly, the fact you don't see that is because they're obviously preaching to your choir. That some people have come across as biased doesn't mean I think everyone who prefers the old one is "jealous." Where did I say that? It was specifically directed at people declaring it "fugly." Big difference between that and preferring the old model. The same psychology can be applied to people who hack on the old model too much. I stated in my post I like both designs, what part of that don't you understand? It was a tough decision for me but I decided on the new model. Its called an opinion. Try not to take offence if I don't look for your validation m'kay?
In regards to your thoughts on the design, I'd have been more than happy with that. In fact its what I wanted to be honest. First and foremost the internals are what mattered to me most. I didn't want the 8600 gpu and couldn't handle the audio bugs of the previous machine. I was informed they overhauled the audio in the new model and sure enough there is no sound issues on mine. Kind of important to a musician. I bought the machine to perform, not as a fashion statement.
