I recently purchased a 2018 MBP 15" (about 3 weeks ago) and it's had a consistent issue from purchase where after about 30min to 2hrs of use, the audio will all of a sudden become glitchy and distorted (a repetitive glitchy sound). This is present across apps (I mostly use firefox, safari, and logic proX), and goes away when I restart. I spent a LOT of time trouble shooting this with Apple Care, including resetting PRAM, SMC, using without anything in any USB ports, using different apps, using wired speakers, running diagnostics, etc... without any indication of what the issue is. Finally they offered to exchange for a new one. Now all of a sudden the issue appears to have just vanished (as of 2 days ago). Typically I am a bit skeptical of issues like that resolving themselves, and wonder if I should take Apple up on their offer now desipite the inconvenience or just keep it and see what happens. Just worried I don't want to end up with a lemon :(

I had similar issues with Mac Mini using a USB headset, it would get better when I removed\reinserted the plug. Eventually, I started using a different headset and have not had issues since. n my case, both were Plantronics, but different models.

So, if you are using a USB sound device, try unplugging it when issues arise, if it temporarily goes away, try a different setup.

I am not using any third party or USB sound device. Audio is just coming out of either the headphone jack or built in speakers!

Uh... why wouldn't you?

Nothing to think about, take it back while you still have the option to be able to replace it!
You'll always regret it otherwise
