I might be selling my 16GB WiFi to a couple of friends at work, but if they change their minds, I am going to go through Gazelle. Gazelle's offer is $300 for it with free shipping. I haven't gone through them before. At least I know I should be able to change my mind with them if I have to. They're not sending me a box, but I'll just go to the post office and get a free box.

well

Let us know how this transaction went. Been looking to do the same thing.

transaction went well, the device actually arrived 1 day late (due to fedex no less) but they honored the full 477$ payment for my 32GB WIFI gen 1 ipad in perfect condition.

nice to have the new one only end up costing 123$ not bad for 1 year use, 10$ a month cost.

Are you going through instant eBay. My mint 64gb was only bringing $421.

Nice. Wish I'd have sent mine in a week ago. The 32gb wifi is now down to $340 on gazelle. I was offered (and took) $550 for my 64gb 3G from them.

To anyone considering selling your ipad, get on it while you still can. Prices are dropping faster than Charlie Sheen's job prospects. I put an ad on the MR marketplace before I read about gazelle…zero interest at $500 for my 64gb 3G in the past 2-3 days. Same with craigslist. The only people who emailed me were lowballers, and mine was absolutely the cheapest 64gb 3G on all of craigslist NYC.

So for those of you that have sold to Gazelle, are you getting fees after the sell? I was quoted $530 for my 64GB wifi +3G. That's not too bad after looking at eBay. I just wanted to know if there will be any fees to me after I get the $530? I looked all through their site and couldn't find anything.

yes

Yes, I went through ebay instant. Got the quote on TUESDAY, shipped it Wednesday after the announcement. The pricing dropped pretty quickly after the announcement, it is important to get a locked in quote PRIOR to a product announcement, let alone a price drop. Gazelle had originally said, POST announcement that their pricing would be good through 3/5, but had to pull that since they just had too much demand. ebay instant was still showing good pricing, like 433$ for my 32GB wifi a couple days post announcement. I think they are more ready to sell int'l and still recoup costs. Ebay instant only gives you 7-10 days to get the product in, gazelle gives you I think 30 days, so their quote has a bigger window of course.

there shouldn't be any fees, only that they reserve the right to alter the quote if the item doesn't fit the description you filled out when getting the quote. If something is missing, if the item is truly scratched or damaged. I take pictures of everything I send anywhere, probably a good idea. They will offer you an altered quote if there is some difference, and you can accept or reject it.

I've been using Gazelle a lot for devices (iPod touch, Kindle, AppleTV, Roku, etc.) and I've always been pleased with their services, and often have been given amounts better than the quoted amount. Using promo codes also adds a nice bit to the amount (10%) (so does getting Amazon gift cards, another 5%).

Never heard of Gazelle so my first thing is to do a google search for Gazelle and when one of the top results that come up is Gazelle and scam. Raises a flag.

I imagine that's just because when people search for it they want to see if its a scam or not, so it becomes associated with the word.

Gazelle is great. I sold two iphone 3GS's to them, and the transactions were quick and trouble free. They sent me boxes, paid for shipping, there were no fees, and I got the prices that they quoted me. I'm getting $556 for my 64gb 3G iPad ($530 plus coupon code TWIT). I went through a tense period with an attempted sale of an iPhone 3G on ebay where the buyer didn't want it after he got it, he put a hold on the payment, and I was very concerned that I either wouldn't get it back, or it would be damaged or a different iPhone. He sent it back in the same condition, but I was sweating it for a while. I took lots of pics before shipping, researched how to sell on ebay, and I thought that I had protected myself well. I know that tons of people have good experiences with ebay, but I don't want that hassle again. You can be confident with Gazelle.

I'm glad to see all the positive opinions about Gazelle on here. I currently work at Gazelle, doing web design and pricing on the sell side, and I can guarantee that we are a totally legitimate business. As a matter of fact, I have never worked for a company that valued it's customers more than Gazelle does. We are still a relatively small company (we just added phone support last week), but we are honest with our payouts, and we definitely do not scam anyone. We evaluate items that you send in based on our completely static grading system, and while we do sometimes lower the offer based on condition discrepancy, we frequently raise the offer for the same reason.

We just got a TON of iPads in - the day of the iPad 2 launch was our busiest day ever - so keep your eyes peeled on our eBay store in the next few weeks if you are looking for a very reasonably priced original iPad (we have to sell these things somehow, right?)

I like this board and it's members, and I've been an active member here for years, so please feel free to use me as a point of contact in any future Gazelle transactions, should the need arise. Thanks!

Gazelle is kind of meh

When trying to unload an older smartphone I decided to give Gazelle a try. While I expected to be offered less than what I would get on eBay, I did not expect to be raked over the coals! I believe Gazelle had higher buy rates when it first started but with it's recent popularity it has gotten, dare I say it, cheaper and cheaper!

I say stick with selling on your own to eBay. You could even use eBay instant sale which is similar to Gazelle except they tend to offer more.
