I have an iPad Pro 9.7” 128GB WiFi model. I have an Apple Pencil, case, and Smart Keyboard for it. I’ve had it a full 2 years and have used it primarily for marking up and highlighting documents and digital textbooks for college. Debating on selling it since the going rate seems to be $300-350 for one in mint condition with accessories.

I know the new iPads just came out so the prices took a hit. I don’t plan on buying a new one anytime soon so I’m just trying to justify whether or not something I spent nearly $1,000 is worth reselling for $300-350 2 years later.

I’m still in college, was just going to swap to primarily doing work on my MacBook, which I kind of already do as it is. Thus the question to begin with. Thoughts? Advice?

FWIW, I would not have sold my 9.7” Pro for the new 11” Pro. Mine was 2 years old and perfect and there’s nothing my old 9.7” Pro does that the new 11” Pro does now. It was a vanity upgrade. I have learned my lesson and grown asa person. I wish I had my 9.7” Pro back and $855 in the bank.
    With That being said.
My new 11” Pro a monster, Apple could call this a Gaming Tablet. I hope Apple has settled on the 11” size so developers can optimize for it. The new Pencil is groundbreaking yet again.
Keep your 9.7” Pro it’s had a good ride. I sold mine to Apple 2 months ago for $250. So $799-$250 was a good value for me given the massive hardware updates. But use and software related there’s nothing the 9.7” Pro is lacking.

My question wasn’t regarding upgrading. I don’t want the new iPad. I was downsizing to just my MacBook but am not sure $300-350 is worth said downsize.

    Appreciate the feedback though.

Check for used prices before deciding; usually it is lower than new prices

If you do not need the iPad anymore and can confim this, go ahead and sell for some cash. Better to have cash than to have rotting stock I'll say

Put it away for a week and if you never instinctively reach for it then sell it.

Depends on the day, but usually I live all over.
No, even though the new iPads or MacBooks would be a huge bump in pretty much everything... the iPad Pro 9.7" is an incredible device and with each iOS update they get better and better equipped for everything laptops do. Selling a 128GB model for less than 600 is not fair to you, IMO. I say keep it, you'll regret selling it, I know I did with mine, luckily I got another to have and take with me to travel while my 2018 12.9" stays home safe and sound.

Don't upgrade. Your's is the perfect example of this.

This is a luxury item, and if you have the kind of money to shop at expensive stores because you are rolling in dough, them go for it. Otherwise, (you already have one, so.......)

I have the previous 12.9 and a 10.5. I'll try to sell these, and if I can get a new one for no more than $200, then I will buy one. Not a cent over $200. Just would be way to frivolous. All this power, and iOS presently has nothing that needs it. A luxury item.

But that is just my case, and my advise to this person is on a case to case level.
