Unfortunately, there isn’t a iPhone Buying Tips and Advice section, so I posted here

Anyway, I have a Space Gray iPhone 6s 128GB Verizon; great condition

And someone on Letgo (kinda like Craigslist) wants to trade their iPhone 7 Plus, Red, with a cracked screen for my phone

What would be the better option, and money wise is it worth it? Would they be equal in value or?

That's absolutely fine.

I think it's worth it, bro.
Yes to confirm it’s 128GB, the seller has a screenshot of the About page in Settings

And I don’t really like the 7 Plus (think it’s ugly with that camera) or the Red color (would rather have Silver, since I already have a Jet) so do you think once I got it fixed it would be easy to get a different phone?

You might be able to trade it in for a different color.

I'm not too sure if you can trade it in for a regular 7, though...

Maybe other people though, like on this forum, Letgo, Reddit, or something

I just don’t want to be stuck with it, don’t hate the phone, but I’d rather have a Silver 7 or a S8

If you decide to make the trade, I recommend that you try trading on Letgo.

If you trade, just see whether you like the iPhone 7 plus or not.

I'm not sure this would be the worth the risk for me but if you don't mind taking a risk then go for it. Too many horror stories with phones becoming blacklisted or having other issues. Then having to fix the screen...

I agree.

Yes, which you remind me to ask

Are there any things that could be damaged under the surface that wouldn’t be apparent by visual inspection? I could probably get Apple to do a remote diagnostic (or agree to meet at the Apple Store and do it there)

I have checked the IMEI and it’s Not blacklisted, of course this could be the carrier hasn’t had time to do it, but the seller doesn’t seem to be in a rush, and it’s been up for a week (and I checked yesterday)

Water damage. They might still be paying on the phone so it won't be blacklisted unless they stop paying.

I asked was the phone paid off or was it paid in full

Will ask for some sort of receipt or something for proof

Thanks for mentioning that, could’ve gotten f***ed!

Ask them to remove the Find my iPhone Activation Lock before you take the phone. Since the screen is cracked, they will have to go to iCloud.com to remove it. The person will have to first erase the iPhone and then remove it from the account. Here's a link with more details: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201441

Make sure it's removed, otherwise you won't be able to use the phone.

Thank you, but that’s one of the first things I checked, and will check again once we meet in person

I’m highly knowledgeable about iOS / iPhone so any scammer won’t be able to pull this on me

Keep the iPhone 6S 128GB. It works properly and you will get the most bang for your buck when you decide to sell your iPhone 6S.

It's definitely a risky venture since the phone could be water damaged, on the verge of being blacklisted, or perhaps even stolen. I'd say just stick with what you got and get the 8 when it comes out in a few months.

I don’t sell my devices

And the 7 Plus I could repair for only $149

I think that it might be worth it.

But I agree with GnarleyMarley that the phone might have some water damage, or something seriously wrong with the phone. It might not be worth it.

If your decide to switch your iPhone 6S for the iPhone 7 Plus, I would carefully check out the device and possibly ask some questions about the device to the person you are switching with.

I woudnt buy the newest device from a marketplace.

I bought my iPhone 6 for 220 euro's but I didnt mind that.

Make sure account is logged off, camera is working, bluetooth, internet when inserting sim, every side of the screen catches your finger movement by sliding.... etc etc

And check your goverments police website to be sure if its stolen or not. So that you wont get any problems.

Think about it this way...why would he trade if your getting the better deal? A bad excus would be "i got no time or money to repair it"
