Hello guys,

I own an iPhone 7 which came stock with iOS 10.0.
Since I got it 3 updates were released and I never updated because I plan on jailbreaking it in the future.

I saw that a jailbreak tool will be only released after the next big iOS 10 update, so now I am wondering
if it is safe to upgrade to iOS 10.0.3? Will iOS 10.0 and above (until 10.0.3), will also be jailbroken, when a tool will be available?

Thanks.

The truth is no one knows. While it is likely that a public jailbreak will wait until after 10.1 (if there is one), there is absolutely no way to know if an exploit that worked on 10.01-2 was closed with .03 because it isn't a public JB yet.

For all we know, the exploit being used is gone with 10.03, and the hacker that found it either will never release it or will sell it for 10.02 and earlier once they discover it's patched.

Either way, if you want to be safe, and you have no issues, upgrade at your own peril.

The odds are small I agree, but how sick would you be if you were wrong (and had a perfectly JB'able 7) and missed the boat for a miniscule update?

There's just no way to know for certain which exploit (if any) will be the one that goes public.

I really hope there will be a jailbreak for 10.1! i feel naked without my JB :D

The bigger question would be: why did you lose it.

It's one thing if you got a replacement phone and it came w/a patched iOS.

It's another, when someone would willingly give up a JB.

I am on the same boat with you. Just not naked lol.

iPhone 7/7+ shipped with iOS 10+ so... there ya go. That's for me anyways.

I had the option to switch my jailbroken 6 plus with an 7 plus, so i couldn't resist going over to the dark side so i said yes. Im starting to regret it haha

I know that sometimes it can be a tough call!

I do think you have to look forward though...a JB ip6, while good, has limited functionality; iOS 10 and later, the 1gb RAM will continue to limit the device's effectiveness.

Yes, I know many ip6 owners are still fine with their phones, but let's face the facts......with the SE and the 6s/+, not to mention the Air2, Mini4, and the Pro line iPads on 2gb RAM as well, the 6/+ is really at a disadvantage here.

So you could say the 'best' option is to get a 7/+ now and hope a JB comes later.

That's what I would do under the circumstances.

But then, I was never an advocate of the ip6.

Even Apple fanboys should have seen the writing on the wall, when a month later...Apple saw fit to release the Air2 with 2gb RAM back in 2014!

Why do you think I waited till the 6s to get my first smartphone?! The ip6 was a flawed product to begin with. And to add insult to injury, Apple still won't publicly acknowledge the Touch disease.
