Should I update iOS software or wait until the next one? Also I don’t know why it didn’t let me know or give me notification that there is an update available. Why is this?

I just updated my 15 Pro and it was getting really hot. Before the update, I had the iPhone on 80% charge limit and this morning while charging it went up to 86%

Always wait 3 weeks before updating To check if other people are encountering issues. Or update now if you like to live dangerously.

Apple staggers their iOS update rollouts, that's why you didn't see a badge. It takes ~2 weeks after release to show up for everyone.

Had no problem updating my 15 Pro to 17.1 no heating problems before or after, everything still working so i feel it's a go.

There are reasons to update.
Also it can be done automatically.
Go to and follow the way below:

*Settings
*General
*Software update
*Automatic Updates: turn on
*Automatically install: iOS,
Security responses & System files, turn all these to ON
*Automatically Download:
iOS Updates to ON.

Apple will let you know that the new version update has been installed.

I recently purchased an iPhone 13 from Best Buy. I had NO problems with it on iOS 16. I then upgraded to iOS 17 followed by iOS 17.1 and I started getting prompts to reenter my Passcode for Face ID. I never saw that with iOS 16 and come to think of it, it never was a problem with iPadOS 16. I started seeing prompts to reenter my Passcode after I upgraded to iPadOS 17.

I got an iPhone exchange at Best Buy and I no longer get prompts to reenter my Passcode for Face ID because I kept it on iOS 16. So I am waiting for them to fix that software bug before I upgrade to iOS 17.
