Should I update?

MacBook Air 15" currently running OS14.8.3 - not updated since I was given it for my 80th!!

At 87 years old I don't like change, got used to what I've got but I notice that my computer is somewhat out of date!!

So the question is, should I update, is it always a good idea to keep up to date?

I noticed that there is a new edition of Pages which won't run on mu=y current OS but does that matter? Page runs just fine.

Totally up to you. Your OS is still fine, and the new version of Pages currently does nothing apart from advertise some new features you can pay to use.

If everything is working for you, keep what you have. There is a lot of learning cure between MacOS 14 and MacOS 26.

You don't have to upgrade to Tahoe. Sonoma is still supported, you can update to macOS Sonoma 14.8.4 released on 11 February 2026

You can still upgrade to sequoia that is very similar to Sonoma ui wise. You just need to google it macOS sequoia the link should redirect you and open the App Store for downloading the update. If you want avoid 26 and have another 2 years of peace with security updates that will be an option. Sonoma will be supported until November 2026

Thanks guys, I think I'll leave it where it is for the time being, until they mo longer support it!
