I'm thinking the same thing. I might buy a 16-inch MPB 2019 very soon though as I don't expect it to be refreshed until late 2020. If it then gets AMD and mini LED, then I will buy it and sell the 2019 MBP.

I don't think we'll see anything this summer, but since WWDC is about a month away, why not wait till then. Intel has released its 10th gen CPUs that could be used in the MBP, and many other companies have already released their 2020 machines, then, of course, there's AMD which we may or may not see an AMD based laptop from apple, but I think if we were it would be announced at WWDC

I went from a 2014 13" to my 16". Yes probably overkill for my use cases but I wanted something that would last at least the 3 years of AppleCare+ and hopefully the 6 years of my 13". Get a refurb, there is zero reason to buy "new", unless you want the proper box. I saved £660 on my config via refurb store, which allowed me to get something that is light years ahead of my 13" and will serve me well for many years.

There are many things that are pointless in life. And waiting for the release of the next and better computer is one of them. There’ll always be a better model half a year down the road. Always. If you like the current MBP and it’s up to spec for your needs, just get one. If you don’t like it, don’t.

I honestly don't see the 16 inch getting upgraded anytime soon, maybe mid next year once Intel has improved yields of the newer 10nm chips. Also I think Apple would wait till AMD pushed out something more powerful. You would want the marketing to show the new "MacBook Pro 16" is faster in both CPU and GPU workloads.

I want to upgrade to the 16" just because I want the latest with the bigger screen, speakers, keyboard etc. If apple was to update the 16" soon I would expect it to be any time from next week up until early July. If nothing happens by then it'll only be 4 months or so until it probably will in October/November.

Mid next year??? I think it is pretty ridiculous to assume Apple will wait 1.5 years to refresh its flagship MacBook pro. Either this Summer or by the 1 year mark imho. (So by around Oct/Nov 2020)
