Yeah I will probably wait but do you have an idea how close apple share the release date to the release?

I would get it now. What's the chances that the next phone will have something AMAZING that you will use daily? Probably very slim to none. The iPhone 5 is lightyears beyond the 4/4S, because it's so much thinner, lighter, and quicker. Why put yourself through the wait? The sooner you get the 5, then the sooner you'll get the 6, assuming that the next iPhone is the 5S.

I'd just get the iPhone 5 now. The 5S is most likely going to be a slight upgrade to the 5, just as all other "S" versions have been. I could be wrong on that assumption but just like others have stated, only Apple knows when the 5S or 6 will come out. You may be waiting until the September/October time frame, especially if the rumors about an iWatch and iTV are true. I'd imagine those could push out the release date if they are going to be manufactured at the same facility.

I always think it's silly to wait for something that 1. doesn't exist yet & 2. has no definitive timetable for a release- you may be waiting for next fall for all you know. If you like what you see in the iPhone5, why wait? Keep in mind the next iphone is expected to be the 5S- traditionally the "S" line has only been an evolutionary update to the previous phone. If you are looking for something major, you're probably going to have to wait for 2 releases.

Only the original iPhone and maybe the iPhone 4 has been revolutionary.

Everything else was evolutionary.

Apple is not going to release both the iWatch and iTV this year.

Not sure why everyone is thinking Apple has to announce new products this year.

They said fall 2013 to 2014.

Usually when they have a new product category they announce it in January.

I say go and purchase, in the next few weeks, either the Galaxy 4s or HTC One. Why wait for a iPhone 5s with meager update and lots of cost. Apple has abandoned its smartphone innovation in favor of iWatches.:(

way to answer a question he didn't ask....

I was going to wait for the 5S (or whatever) but broke my iPhone 4 yesterday and decided that, screw it, I would just buy the 5 and skip the S. It's a huge difference from the 4 but if I had a 4S I would definitely wait; I don't see anything about it that I think is dramatically better than my wife's 4S.

In fact, if I had a 4S and the 5S ends up being just a speed bump with a fingerprint scanner, I might even wait until the 6.

Are you in the UK? The one advantage of getting a 5 now is that they are being heavily subsidised pending the new release of the 5s
eg £99 upfront and £25 x 24 months for unlimited data , texts and loads of minutes. given that a similar sim only plan would be around £15 per month, you are effectively getting the 5 for about £340.
When the 5s gets released, it probably won't be subsidised as heavily.
If you can afford it and you really want the 5s in the Autumn, you could then sell your 5 in 6 months time for at least £250 and buy a sim free 5s from apple to finish off your contract.

I'd take the rumors with a grain of salt.

Oh believe me I do too, after many years as a loyal Apple customer I take them with a grain of salt.

For me they're just an interesting source of humor. In the event they're actually correct, that's a rarity.

Obviously, it's only the ones that are posted very close to release date that are somewhat close to correct.
