Thanks for your suggestions, guys.

I think what I'm going to do is wait until the keynote on the 6th and if an update does not come out just purchase the PB on the 6th. If a new one does indeed launch, I would rather go without a Powerbook for the two weeks and have a brand new PB waiting for me when I get back.
You might actually want to wait until the 7th... just to be extra safe. What if they're released on Tuesday?

Doesn't Apple have a 10 day policy where if a new product is released you get the new product?

Of course...surely you could get out a hair dryer and just unstick the seals...you've probably got a gluestick around, you could put them back on, right? right? It can't be that hard...
I'd say Mr Jobs has tried this himself and fired the guy who ordered the sealing tape that was so easily frauded.

A gluestick (like i know them) doesn't come close to the sticking powers of the seal itself.
But, there's always a way...

Good luck Apple!Freak.

Sit the box on your desk.

Tear a little away at the box. C'mon, stay with me now.

Ok, maybe you could just tear away a little more ...

I'll give you 15 mins til it's open :p

Haha, actually yes. It's been sitting on the portion of my desk next to me, in between two speakers (It will be connected to them). I am tempted as hell to open it but the temptation will set me back $170 (restocking fee) if a new PB is to come out. We will see if I can hold to my guns tomorrow (going to bed now). :p

Well the blow dryer would take the seal off right? Then its just a matter of getting it back on. Wouldn't super glue work? I mean it is clear.

Whatever the solution, it could save me $170.

Just try it, and let us know.

According to the Regents Street Apple Store in London, I can return for a full refund after 14 days even if I've opened it and used it.

I bought this iBook yesterday, and I'm planning to take it back if they release a new one on Monday.

I had bought a powerbook a week before the upgrade last time, student discount and all at the store, and did get charged the restocking fee to exchange it. Luckily for me, the powerbooks also got a price drop, so it ws only a few extra dollars to get the new one, but I would have saved $135 or so had I waited a week. They didn't give me any problems exchanging it though, and even transfered all the data I had already put on it, so I wasn't dissapointed.

I have to say, I'm really tempted to open this thing. It just keeps staring me in the eye. "Open me! Open me! OPEN ME!," its saying.

I guess it helps if you aren't a college student (in which case you have to get it through the website if you want the discount) and aren't going to want anything non-standard.

Absolutely completely false about having to order online. You can go to any store and show your student ID and get a discount. It is only true that you need to order software online to get a discount.

Perhaps it's different outside the US.

At the moment I plan to buy an eMac very soon. I was going to order it this week but decided to postpone it until Monday or Tuesday, if Apple would upgrade some models or introduce new onces.

Now I think noting is coming from Apple but I´m still going to wait since we will know the truth within a week from now.

You know, this is the year of HD right? I envision Mr. Jobs is going to speak of a Powerbook G4 HD on Monday.

I'm sorry, but I couldn't understand what the hell you were trying to say with that sentence. revealent? As far as I understand, that is not a word.

I couldn't take it anymore! I opened it up! :p

I mean what the hell, worst comes to worse I will have to shell out another $170. Its not something I would be pleased about doing but if it comes to that, then it comes to that. I mean what am I going to do.

Anyhow I thought I'd let you all know. :)

Now lets start praying for no Powerbook updates Monday. :p

I'm guessing at this point *if* there is an update, you're most likely just going to want the price drop that the old revs get unless the update is something earth shattering.

Correct.

Such as, if a new processor is used be it G5, Freescale, whatever-- or a HD model is released. Those are situations in which I would return the one I've got, get hit with the 10%, and upgrade.

If its just a jump from 1.5Ghz to 1.67Ghz, I will most certainly stay with my current PB and just get the price difference back.

Eithery way, I'm greatly looking forward to staying tuned on that live audio feed at 1pm on Monday. :)

If those rumored 2GB Shuffles with screen are released, I will be first in line. Well not first, but close.

Off topic but, I just checked my reciepts bin and after looking through all of my Apple Store reciepts it appears I have spent in excess of $5,000 in the past three months, just at my local store (not including the hundreds at the online store).

You don't think there going to update the Airport Express, do you? Ha-ha. Because I'm going to be purchasing one, tomorrow. Anyone know what the wireless range on them is, in feet and wall damage (how well they work through walls)?
