tbh, think about it this way. Would you wear a normal watch while playing soccer (or any other sport)? I think the answer is probably no.

but the apple watch is not a normal watch, and the Apple Watch Sports is made for fitness / sports. What next are people not going to want to wear it to the gym because it might get sweat on it? come on now...

I understand that, but I don't see it as a option for team sports really. Working out is one thing, but you don't see athletes in basketball, baseball, football, hockey, etc wearing smart devices during games. Might simply be a league rule, but it also seems to me like ti would get in the way.

i want to wear mine while i play hockey.

should be fine, its under my glove... i think. (haven't tried yet). Maybe i'll get a bumper-case or whatever.

Someone should make a hard-case cover for it that you clip on and take off befor and after playing. not like i need to read my watch face while i'm in the middle of a game.

Gessh, why would anyone ask this?

Contact sports=no

These aren't particularly robust from the looks and feel of them (i'm wearing a sport).

It's like an iPhone or iPad. You would need a case (those watch cases are absurd BTW :D )

Yes, you should wear your sport watch, with the sport band, while playing sports. That's sort of the purpose of buying a sport watch, no?

QFT!

Seriously wtf how is this even a question xD

Then again my favorite glasses when I was playing soccer (for fun) were my frameless bendy glasses because they weighed nothing (shoot, they were my favorite glasses for everything).

I need to get another pair of those..

I wore mine playing basketball last week and will wear it in my softball and soccer leagues. Getting the 38mm was a good decision for me as it's much less obtrusive during play.

What about for running? Do you think that's safe for it? I don't want sweat to get on it.. ;) jk

Of course, always exercise some level of caution, but I definitely plan to wear mine during most any kind of sport/activity. If I were playing full pad football or something maybe not (but probably would anyway actually).

Fitness tracker is one of my top features for the watch. I definitely don't plan to baby it. If it gets scuffs, so be it. I'm not treating it like jewelry, I'm treating it like a fitness device.

I thought about wearing mine playing ice hockey goalie...for about 1/2 a second. I would have liked to have been credited for the activity middle ring, but couldn't figure out a way to record that "after the fact".

Hey, wear the watch.

That's what it's for. It's a SPORTS watch. It's not just a name.

Those who are saying don't wear it are probably folks who really wanted a SS but the cost forced them to buy the sport.

Apple created the sport watch for athletic people knowing that it would still entice those who couldn't afford the SS too.

That earlier video you referred to was posted in another thread… It seems to be fake. This video you posted looks legit though.

fake really? looked like he dropped it and it smashed. Thanks for letting me know.

Well I obviously don't know for sure… But people were pointing out some discrepancies between the camera angles, and the fact he keeps filming and has the shot properly framed after he discovers it busted. Who knows, but they were saying that it was probably just click bait.

I don't usually feel very comfortable wearing the watch when I go to the gym(the handlebars of the treadmill get in the way and when I swing my arms, they can easily hit handlebars)....I do bring my iPhone though just becauze I just don't want to put the watch in harms way

Its a watch, its expensive and while I understand its a sport model, its still an electronic device and should be treated as such

I wear my watch (Sport 38mm) when I run and go to the gym but so far haven't worn it playing sport. Even with a case I feel like it'd get damaged. I play flag football and Austag and while it isn't full contact there is enough where I hit the ground a few times a game.

Not worth it. Though I did wear my Fitbit charge during these activities but that didn't have a watch face made of glass.

You shouldn't wear any watches or jewelry when doing a contact sport. If you can't put off a ring, then tape it off.
