I'm guessing this would also apply to the Series 1?This question has pretty much been answered officially by Apple all along.
In the environment report for the Watch, they measure the power consumption of the USB power adapter with a Watch charging cable connected.

Clearly, an idling Watch charger is using a lot less power than when it's charging.

Amazing find!
Now that is of the "Apple USB Power Adapter", would this also be suitable for when using an iPhone Apple 1A charger? This question has pretty much been answered officially by Apple all along.

So my last question is, is it dangerous to leave it on 24/7? Would it generate excessive heat? Any safety concerns? Not sure where you're from. but they're the same aren't they? (There are two different versions in the UK).
Either way, the point is more about the cable itself: when provided with power it does not draw power while idle, contrary to the "it has to draw power to create an electromagnetic field all the time" argument above. It shouldn't matter what power adapter is being used.
Not at all. It will be 100% fine. As the documents show, the draw will be a tiny, tiny fraction of a watt at idle. There is no scope to generate heat.So my last question is, is it dangerous to leave it on 24/7? Would it generate excessive heat? Any safety concerns?
Thanks for all of this clarification! Ill be having my Apple Watch charge by my bed switched on all the time with my aluminium stand my partner is getting me for xmasNot at all. It will be 100% fine. Most people leave their iPhone/Apple Watch chargers switched on at the mains 24/7 for years at a time - myself included. It's perfectly fine.![]()
