I upgrade every year, then sell my old phone. This year, my 19yo is impatiently waiting to buy my 3GS (he's had his old 1st gen for years now).

Yeah. I'm making him buy mine. What? he's an adult, I'm not running a charity. He already lives at home for free. :D

I've never had to pay for an upgrade that way. I'm waiting for the white ip4, or he'd already have a lovely, gently-used 3GS to play with.

And retain his upgrade eligibility. See? I plan for these things.

My advice is generally the same as King Luis up there.

If you have a 3G or below, go for the 4. If you have a 3GS, you don't really need to, unless, like me, you are the upgrade every year sort.

I had to upgrade my 3G. That YouTube parody video is not 'fake', they really are that slow running 4.0.

I can't believe people still think their iPhone 4 is perfect. Surely you've not convinced yourselves that much?

Apple can't win! If they wouldn't of released some form of iOS 4 for the iPhone 3G everybody would of had green poopie running down their legs. And yes, my iPhone 4 is perfect, absolutely no complaints!

These threads rile me up.

The phone isn't so ****ed up that it's totally unusable.

It works perfectly fine. And wipes the floor with the previous 3GS & 3G.

I agree to some extent, however there are others who may be having valid issues, so they might have an issue that is not making it a fun device for them, however I do not agree with the Trolls here who just want to start trouble.

I had tons of issues with my first one from Apple, then Apple told me they would either allow me to return it or I should keep it and deal with the issues, I was looking for my unit to be swapped out so I returned it bc of their store attitude.

I also got my second one from a Best Buy pre-order, and this one is almost perfect, I have some issues with the camera and prox sensor, but I can deal with them.

I will be just curious to see how Apple handles it and What they do about it, the thing that really bothers me is they are ignoring everyone's complaints, and why would they create a bumper if they didn't know there was an issue, a little fishy if you ask me.

The only thing I'm totally convinced about is that when it comes to opinions about MY use of MY phone, YOUR opinion is irrelevant.

I'm on my second i4 after returning my first due to sound issues. I also went through 3 3G's with proximity sensor issues. Other than the minor annoyance of having to do the swap, my i4 works just fine.

Does it really matter if something is 100% "perfect" if the way you use it doesn't encounter any defects? i.e. if you have one which doesn't suffer any proximity sensor issues and you use it with a case thus not triggering the bridge-the-antenna?

I see this is a kind of like a scab. Some folks just leave it alone and it's no big deal, others just can't help themselves from picking at it once they know its there.

As for me, I'm hanging out on my 3GS for the moment 'til I see which way Apple goes. I understand not wanting to suffer a resale value loss if they won't fix the Rev A versions eventually.

Returning iPhone 4 today

I have an original iPhone. Got my new iPhone 4 yesterday. I realize my habit is to pick it up with my left hand when it rings. Result: call drops instantly when I try to answer. I hold it in my left hand to dial. Result: bars go away, call does not go through. I am right handed so I hold with left, dial with right. A hard habit to break. I am returning my new phone today and reactivating my original iPhone. At least it makes calls though the battery is down to 3 hours per charge. If they don't fix the antenna problem on iPhone 4 I will buy a 3GS - still a nice upgrade for me and I hear it actually works as a phone. Or maybe (gasp) go to another brand. Breaks my heart.

I have a iPhone 4 and a new 8GB 3GS. I love both of them. The only difference is on the 3GS, the pixels are a bit more noticeable on photos but that is only because of using the iPhone 4 so much.

I still have one line that is upgradeable and I am still trying to make up my mine on it, another 4 or another 8GB 3GS.

On the 3GS, I did manage to pack over 1150 songs onto it using the 128Kb option in iTunes. The call quality is the same on both though I did have to exchange the 3GS yesterday because the earpiece crackled like it was broken. The 3GS is only available as an 8GB black model now but it's only $99.

I wouldn't give up either one!

My opinion being?

I never said it matters if something is 100% perfect so your question is irrelevant. The iPhone 4 as a device has been clearly proven imperfect, in a significant way, which contradicts the people claiming theirs is "perfect".

It depends on your situation. I can upgrade every year, and sell the phone for more than I paid for it. So, if you have a similar situation as me I would get it.

My opinion being?

Your opinion doesn't matter, it is irrelevant. Not in general, but specifically in relation to whether or not I'm using my phone and obtaining value from the purchase I made for the device. What you choose to believe or not believe has not bearing on what experiences I have with a purchase I've made.

Simple, no?

Erm, not once have I questioned how happy you are with your phone, given you my personal opinion of your situation or asked for your opinion. I'm not sure what you're reading from or where you're hoping to go with your little rants. Fact is, your iPhone was in production within the same time as everyone else's (already sold). The antenna design is flawed, it is therefore an imperfect product - as a device - regardless of your, apparently vital, opinion.

Simple, no?

Yup, your iPhone 4 has a design flaw; just like mine, just like the other 3 million+ already sold.

There's nowhere else for this discussion to go; it's pointless and will never end. After reading this, if you still believe you have a perfect iPhone 4, please personally hand it to Apple, California for replication. If not, enjoy your iPhone 4 with acceptance of its flaw(s); stop posting to convince yourself it's perfect. I enjoy mine.

I had a 3GS and would not go back for anything.

The iP4 is not perfect as perfect does not exist in an imperfect world. However, as far as iPhones go it comes pretty darn close.

Well friend the iphone 4 riles me up! It was unusable! Both it and the replacement. Sent them both back. I'm waiting for SJ tomorrow. I want an IP4 but I want one that works. How fricken hard is that for you people to understand. Some work in high signal areas buty we ALL don't live it high signal areas. BTW, I activated my 3g that I had upgraded to 4.0.. Now if I upgrade to 4.0.1 do I loose the two (2) bars I do have? YOU people really need to understand that there are Apple lovers like myself that are mad at
Apple for the problems. I get mad at my kids to but I still love them. The more complaining we do the better chance we have of Apple doing the right thing. Fix the phone, I want to buy another!
