Should You Buy an iPhone 17 Now or Wait for iPhone 18?

Seems like you're enjoying it before even spending the money 😉 Which will be even more of a trick if you end up doing something else instead.
i got the 17 via work a couple months after it came out. Upgraded from my 4 year old 13; which was also work issued.
For what i do with my phone, which is emails, calls, and a few apps and a few photos. I pretty much forgot i had a new phone after about 2 weeks. Main benefit was the jump from lightning to usbc, and the dynamic island was novel for a couple days.
So to answer the opening question. You're almost certainly not going to be able to to tell the difference between the 17 and the 18 aside from whatever new colour they bring out. Since it's nearly guaranteed to be more expensive due to memory, it'd be wiser to pick up a 17 today unless you crave bleeding edge; in which you're waiting for the ultra anyway.

Keeping my iPhone Air until it's vintaged. It does everything i need a cell phone to do. I'm done upgrading devices just because I can.
I bought an iPhone 17 back at the end of February and couldn't be happier. It's one of the best iPhones Apple has ever released. As far as the new Siri AI in iOS 27, I really don't care about the Siri voice thing. It's not crucial. It's not a "you can't live with out it" feature. The only thing that I won't have is the improved voice dictation, which would be useful, but it's also something I can totally live without. I mean I already have for years.

Regret the day I got scammed with Siri, HomePod and all that crap. To this day it still doesn’t get playlists right, and it often gets confused with lights across the house. I’ll stick with my Air and wait for a 3rd gen, should there be one. There’s really nothing new going on with hardware these days.

This all feels like a big step towards realigning the iPhone lineup to parallel both the MacBook and iPad lineups.
An updated iPhone Air moves into the "Best for Most People" role alongside both the MacBook and iPad Airs.
The supposedly downgraded, but, still better than "e" iPhone 18 takes its place alongside the MacBook (Neo) and
standard iPad.

i'm so curious why the blue doesn't get more love. i feel like the blue is such a beautiful color on the pro's.
that said, i want apple to release a true red iphone, like the product red days of iphone 11 and i'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Same, got 3 17Pros and one 17PM with the $1100 T-Mobile trade-ins a month ago. We are good for a few years now.

You know that's not what I meant. Downgrading from the previous gen of the same tier. Maybe 3D Touch but it was just fulminated from all the devices so I dont know if it counts.

Yes that has always been the case. The difference this time around though is that in less than a month, the 18 pros and foldable will be out, but not iPhone 18 or Air 2. So not sure if those two devices specifically (standard iPhone 17 and iPhone Air) would be eligible to trade in since their updates would come next spring.

I think I'm going to chill with my 16PM. Even though it does get hot from time to time. 94% Battery life and still looks brand new. (Black) I will entertain the foldable and if I like it, I might buy it.

Apple always discontinues the Pros. Only the base model is continued usually with a price drop. But what will happen this time when the 18 is introduced.
Just got my battery replaced yesterday, too! They damaged the screen doing it, so I have a new screen! Just wish I could upgrade the storage.
They'll likely introduce the 18 at a higher price point; and keep the 17 at the same price. Assuming they haven't hiked the 17 by that time.

That is what I have been thinking. Seems like the easiest way to smooth the price change over. I think if we were going to see a 17 price increase it would have happened already.
