Try this

# defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool true
# KillAll Finder

Try this

# defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool true
# KillAll Finder
To go into more Detail, Open Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal.app

If by some odd chance that script jauhari gave doesn't work (works different for some OSes I've found, not much experience with the Leopard Terminal), the alternative is:

# defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES
# KillAll Finder

To reverse, simply put NO for YES. Command may be case-sensitive.

Be careful with Hidden files. Some are hidden for a reason...
