Sorry I just think these boards have been too light on the “The Boys” references.
I have seen some pics of starlight in the wait/order thread but it’s very easy to confuse it with silver if you’re not certain of the photo’s white balance.
For example
weird...it does look silver. I think the real question is, show me starlight and silver next to eachother.

Starlight color is very nice and classy looking in person.
Personally i find it much better looking than the super hyped midnight color.

Did something I'd never expect I'd do. Went to the Apple Store to check out the new colours. I've had Midnight on order (with a delivery next week for 24GB/2TB) as I love the idea of a blue Mac.
Now, I wouldn't say it looked BAD in the store. But honestly I was disappointed after spending some time with it. The fingerprint thing is real. I was in the store 15mins after it opened early Sunday morning, so there were very few customers. All the devices were freshly cleaned and the Midnight Macbook looked horrid. You can see every print. The shop personal actively tried to discourage me from buying it as they were tired of wiping it already.
Next to it they had Starlight. Now, while I am not a fan of silvery Macs (if anything I loved the yellow Gold of the 2017 Macbook I owned), the Starlight one looks like fine jewlery next to the Midnight. You can't see prints and the colour has something that just says value.
In contrast after spending 10 mins with the Midnight model and stepping away and towards it, it reminded me of a generic PC laptop. Guess it doesn't help I owned Thinkpads 20 years ago...
So off I went, canceled my online order and made a new one for Starlight. Sadly now it's a 3 week wait instead of 1 but I don't regret it one bit.

That picture of the Starlight invokes a slight cringe, as if it had massive bezels of old. lol.
To me, the Midnight looks so much better, but I'd go for one of the other colors myself given the fingerprint issue. You can see where it was picked up at the two front side locations.
Erm the computers are exactly the same. The bezels look larger on the starlight because the photo wasn't fullscreen and had black borders around it.

Thanks for the picture! I had already ordered the starlight color, and your picture matches what I expected it would be.
I just went into an Apple store to check out the colours and have also done the same - cancelled my Midnight order and switched to Starlight.
Midnight was the one specification I was 100% sure of when I saw the keynote! Unfortunately, in person it reminds me too much of my work-issued SurfacePro 😬.
In terms of other Midnight ‘issues’, the salesperson says she spends her entire day cleaning off fingerprints. They use a salt-based cleaner (which doesn’t sound like a good idea long term!). She is also expecting it to chip, which she expects will impact the resale value. The other thing that I didn’t like, which I haven’t seen mentioned here, is that the keys are black. This is definitely a personal preference thing (I don’t like dark blue and black together) but I think it would look a lot better if they were also in the Midnight colour. These are more minor things though - it was the fact that I felt like I was staring at my work computer on a Monday morning that was the deciding factor for me.
The sales person said that the Starlight seems to be the most popular colour, and quite a few people are shifting their preference to that from the Midnight (as she had done herself).
The Space Grey and the Silver looked quite dated to me (I expect that’s because all my Mac laptops for the past 10-15 years have looked exactly like the Silver one).
I assumed the Starlight would look really tacky in person but I didn’t think that was the case. It looks like a warmer version of the Silver (I didn’t actually realize it wasn’t the Silver until I put them both next to each other).
The salesperson said she expects more cases for it will start appearing at the Apple stores around November/December.
