We‘re in a thread for Watch bands, though. And even if that opinion was formed after looking at a case in person, the feel of a watch band will be very different as it needs to be flexible while the case needs to be rigid.
Yeah I don’t think I’ve ever scratched a leather link the way the finewoven cases will be constantly grasped and fingernail’d

Changed watches for the evening. I just can’t capture how gorgeous the colour of this strap is.

I have ordered one and sent it back already. Not worth my money (they cost as much as the leather cases, let’s be real here). To be honest, I‘m quite sure that it will age very badly and look grubby rather sooner than later.
Leather is just such a nice material. Treat it well and it will last you a lifetime

Exactly right! I would think the carbon footprint of a leather strap over its lifetime would be less than that of a crappy plastic strap over its much shorter useful lifetime. My dad still has a leather jacket he got in the 60's in London thats still in pretty good shape. Its been worn a ton over the years. I bet a fine woven strap or case from 2023 won't be getting used in 2083, but it will still be around sitting in a landfill somewhere.

Feel like Apple is just putting a spin on their story... can't be bothered to go back to producing actual good quality leather goods anymore so lets just stop and tell the people we did it for the environment.

The problem with Apple’s leather these last couple years is that it got worse and wasn’t made to last. Quality sources of leather exist but most of Apple’s leather accessories were landfill fodder and ending it was indeed a good idea.

Trying out the new faces but wearing (obviously) older bands. Pretty happy with this combo: Ultra with Hermes Kraft/Lime Jumping, with new Solar Analog face in Canary Yellow, which is a great match for the Lime. (Apologies the photos aren’t terrific - taken in my office.)

So are you saying the leather cases are incomparable to the leather links too

I don't know why we're still discussing this as the OP has left the room a while ago, but yes, I wouldn't have decided if I like a leather link band or not by fondling a leather phone case.

By that logic we should abandon this entire thread. jsmith hasn’t been in the room since 2018!

I’ll have to disagree. If I had a negative reaction to the leather case, I wouldn’t buy it as a band. Same for FineWoven. Personally, however, I wouldn’t say I’ve had the chance to see the FineWoven accessories in person yet.

No reason to assume the assembly is different enough to result in a whole new feel.

Yeah, because a whole 1000-page-thread where countless users over the course of over 8 years have shown their Watch bands and discussed them at length is exactly the same as a very specific and very minor quibble between 2 users (or 3, if you count yourself in).

There are many different leathers with very different properties. Who‘s to say it‘s different for FineWoven, especially in very different applications?

Anyhow, it‘s a shame that those new bands are unobtainable for now anyway and we don‘t get some first hand reports tomorrow.

I picked up an Apple Watch Ultra this week. It’s an upgrade from a series 7. Definitely feels like a bigger upgrade than getting the series 9. This thing is beautiful and the extra screen space/size makes a big difference

Both are conversation starters are they not?

First or second gen? Either way, very cool!
