Got my first ever Apple Watch in the mail yesterday! I went with the 42mm Space Gray Series 1. Absolutely love it so far and the quality of Watch OS 3 has exceeded my expectations.

Just ordered a S2 Stainless Steel Space Black 42mm, with a sport band and a knockoff Milanese from Amazon. Will update here when it arrives on Friday!

I just got a knock off milanese from clock choice on Amazon. It's pretty nice and really dresses up my SBSS. I had bought another band from them and they sent me a coupon so I was able to get it for $7.95. Can't really beat that.

I went with the JETech one. A few bad reviews, but came highly recommended from one of the Cult of Mac podcast guys.

In other news: the shipping center was only like an hour from my house, so the delivery of my Watch was bumped up from Friday to today! So stoked.

But how is everyone managing to create their own watch faces?

Is there somewhere I can download different types?

I kept using the Photos app on the iPhone.

The trick is to choose a 4:5 (width:height) aspect ratio -- that's the same as the AW display. You don't have to make it any more complicated than that.

The other trick in Photos is that if you try cropping a landscape photo and select one of the presets, it'll assume that you want to keep it in landscape, so it'll have a 5:4 preset and NOT the 4:5 you need. The workaround, then, is to first drag the crop border so it's taller than it is wide, then press the Preset button in the bottom right corner. Then move, resize, and finish as usual.

This is my second AW. I had the first edition but ended up selling it when I thought it wasn't very useful for me. But loving the Series 2, definitely a keeper

I finally caved in and got one. Loving it so far. I would have loved the black Stainless Steel, but I can't justify how much more expensive it is, so I went Space Grey Aluminium, Series 2.

Also got a cheap knock-off black Milanese loop for £8.99, because Apple's is £199, which is silly.

Had a Stainless Link Bracelet come in the post this morning. I've only worn the Apple Watch with Sport and Leather Loop straps and the bracelet makes it look and feel a bit more classy.

I had the Space Black link bracelet and returned it, yes it looks amazing and looks the part but I just couldn't justify the price tag of £449 last year, it's now £549 WOW! The price was just far too much just for a bracelet.

Plus I also found that from time to time when the links closed together it nipped my skin on my arm :( which was the final straw to take it back

I also heard that 3rd party developers can start creating their own, has this been introduced?

Background photos? Or custom watch faces with their own hand designs and function layouts?

I haven't heard anything about fully custom faces being opened to the general public (technically, I'm a developer, and you can be one, too).

Supposedly you can install an app that pretends to be a watch face, and you'd use it by starting the app and setting the watch to "always show current app" on wrist raise. But that's not the same as installing a fully integrated custom face like the Hermes and Nike faces are now.

There's a lot of engineering detail gone into making all the removable links and butterfly mechanism, hence the high price. I got mine second hand so it was a lot easier to justify and it does look bloody good.

Finally, a Juuk bracelet "in the wild"!

How is it? How does it compare to Apple's?

I can't speak highly enough. I can actually compare the juuk and Apple as I owned the link bracelet first generation and currently have the black link bracelet. I will state unequivocally that the Juuk bands are every bit the equal to Apples at half the cost. They are beautiful and the build quality is outstanding they are in all ways a premium band. Some may balk at the price but "you get what you paid for" in those cheap bands on Amazon and EBay
