I only have one Apple band. The other four that I own are from Amazon and I have had no issues with them, whatsoever. Many of my co-workers experience the same with their other bands.

The key is to check the ratings of those vendors selling these watch bands. Stay away from the lower-rated ones. Here's one of many videos that showcase some of third-party bands available ...

or maybe this one ...

I have tried many times ordering cheap bands off Amazon over the years. Most were rated 4/5 stars and all but 1 band have been returned. I agree Apple bands are extremely overpriced but from my experience, bands have followed the "you get what you pay for" saying pretty closely.

My collection since series 0 is 19 apple bands, 2 TOMS, & 1 Cheapo from Amazon and I wouldn't have it any other way lol :)

I will say I am hunting for a quality 3rd party SS Link Band because Apple has lost their mind its pricing for the OEM one.

Series 3 cellular Stainless Steel with Ultraviolet Sport Band. The brighter pic is under a LED lamp. I really like this band.

I ordered a SS Link band from Juuk, that will go with my new SS Series 3 watch. I will post pics when it arrives.

As for pricing on Apple's bands, I agree they are expensive. But you do get what you pay for. In fact, the owner of Juuk, Eugene Ho, made a blog post about this. I found it very informative.

I post this since, as far as I could see online, it’s never been done before.
I’ve noticed that every time I banged the watch somewhere the space grey anodised coating wasn’t coming off as it is surprisingly sturdy, unless the Watch was taking the hit on that little corner where the body from rounded becomes flat, that little edge where the screen sits.
That’s the only spot on which the anodising was giving up showing the raw silver alluminium underneath.

That’s because the anodised coating struggles on being as thick when the area it sits on is really sharp, like on that angle in between rounded and flat.
That’s the origin of the problem that the iPhone 5 had for example, and that’s just how anodising performs.

I tried to cover those microscuffs with markers of different kind but there’s no paint that holds on metal, which end up being rubbed on clothes or touched with greasy hands for the whole day (seems stupid but the grease of your hands acts as a solvent melting the paint), and after a couple of days the paint was coming off.

I decided to go hardcore, and chamfer that little edge so that’d be permanently silver without any coating that could chip, giving a uniform, smooth look, without interruption of the colour.

I find the result to be very subtle, makes the watch look almost more elegant as the lip now shines like stainless steel, and permanently solves the problem.

What do you think?

Looks like a shiny apple watch so good job. How'd you do it?

For lack of needle file I used a pointy knife which I held as a pen on the tip of the blade and a lot of patience and attention, then once the colour was partially off I kept on doing the same with another pointy knife with a ceramic blade, then once all the colour was off I kept on sliding really gently the corner of that piece of metal you see in the pic below over the polished surface to smoothen it even further as there were still little signs of the two blades I used before. That piece of metal not being nowhere as sharp as a blade worked as a treat in smoothening and flattening the surface giving it a uniform and not dented look. To follow a perfectly straight line I did all of this just sliding whatever “tool” I used leaning on the glass
I beared in mind that metal of the “tools” I used would scratch the aluminium (which I wanted) but not the glass, therefore I could lean against the glass with no problem.
I guess with a needle file you could get to this result easier but I didn’t have any of those laying around and sandpaper couldn’t be used as it would scratch the glass.
Still not sure about the needle file though as I wouldn’t know if it would be made of metal or infused with some sort of mineral stronger than the glass, so I’d advice to double check that before going that way.

Don't totally disagree, there are some really bad watch bands out there.

But Juuk's argument that FKM (fluorocarbon elastomer) is 7 times as much as silicone is misleading at best. 7 X .50 cents is still only 3.50 :) These things cost almost nothing to make.

It finally came today! Yay! I have a few bands on order, but here’s what I have for now:

Soft White Sports Band (came with)
White/Black Band (Nike knockoff, wanted to see the quality)
Orange Leather Band (didn’t realize this was an Hermès knockoff, just wanted an orange band!)

I actually like the soft white sports band because weirdly enough, it fits well.

i am confused whether i should switch to Space grey one or keep the silver with pure platinum/black nike band!
the pure platinum band is so beautiful and I want it too
I saw a couple of people that bought the band on the space grey and I don't know what to do, it's looks nice but white and black not going together at least if you're a mickey mouse

haha yeah the main concern is should i go for silver or space grey. as i bought Obsidian Black band and i think it looks much better with Space Grey Apple Watch!

S3 Nike + w/ LTE 42mm.

Originally wasn’t going to get the LTE version but I traded in my S0 at Best Buy for $85. Added a $20 reward and with a cc promotion got an extra 10% off. $310 out the door. Will activate LTE maybe later.

Is that dark olive sports loop?
looks neat..
