Anyone have pics of the (non black) Stainless steel version. (Preferably) with a black band?
I do, but not here at the office. Still the most versatile combo, IMO -- it even looks okay with a tuxedo (at least when I'm playing tuba in the back row of the band!).

I had the black all stainless... if I switch back to Apple and get the watch I am debating if that is the way to go.

I got mine in the first few months while Apple was still selling the polished-SS-on-black-Sport combo. I accidentally broke it last fall -- just a couple weeks before the S3 announcement! -- and Apple was kind enough to send me a polished-SS-on-white Series 2 as a replacement. So, now I've got a visually-identical watch with both white and black Sport bands. White is kinda fun to wear, and maybe it even looks a little fancier (it reminds me of porcelain-and-steel bathroom fixtures or cookware), but black is a lot more subdued -- and the shiny polished body adds extra panache that I don't see in the black SS version.

I justified the original SS purchase by saying that it goes better with leather straps and steel bracelets... but because the regular Sport band is so easy to use, so comfortable, and looks pretty good anyway, I haven't tried very hard to get any other straps.

They sent you the series 2 free of charge?
How did that process go?

Step 1: Break mine by dropping it on the bathroom floor and cracking the ceramic back. Hairline cracks, but I couldn’t trust it to still be waterproof
2: Own up to it and tell Apple Support that I was a klutz
3: We discover that I broke it exactly one day after my AppleCare Plus expired
4: They “gave me a solid”, as the saying goes, and say I can still use one of my reduced-cost repair incidents
5: I take it to my friendly neighborhood Apple Store
6: Be patient and humble
6b: (they told me this in step 7) The watch gets rejected by the repair center twice and spends two weeks going back and forth
7: The Apple Store calls me up and says, “Because this has taken so much longer than we hoped, and because we promised that you’d have a working watch, we’ll give you a new one off the shelf. And because you had a stainless first-generation model, we’ll give you a stainless Series 2; because although the Series 1 is as close as we’ve got to yours in terms of technology, it’ll feel like a downgrade, and you paid to have the nicer one.”
8: Drive to the store and pick up my brand-new Series 2.

Simple. ;-)

No photos but just received the new striped nylon bands and they’re pretty dope. Perfect for summer. Though I wish Apple made a loop version as that’s my favorite band right now.

Just got a Chinese knock-off Spicy Orange silicon band off Amazon for $10. It does collect lint and pet hair but hardly at all. It fits the watch just as well as the Apple original grey band I have. Amazing for the price.
