They sent you the series 2 free of charge?
How did that process go?
Step 1: Break mine by dropping it on the bathroom floor and cracking the ceramic back. Hairline cracks, but I couldn’t trust it to still be waterproof
2: Own up to it and tell Apple Support that I was a klutz
3: We discover that I broke it exactly one day after my AppleCare Plus expired
4: They “gave me a solid”, as the saying goes, and say I can still use one of my reduced-cost repair incidents
5: I take it to my friendly neighborhood Apple Store
6: Be patient and humble
6b: (they told me this in step 7) The watch gets rejected by the repair center twice and spends two weeks going back and forth
7: The Apple Store calls me up and says, “Because this has taken so much longer than we hoped, and because we promised that you’d have a working watch, we’ll give you a new one off the shelf. And because you had a stainless first-generation model, we’ll give you a stainless Series 2; because although the Series 1 is as close as we’ve got to yours in terms of technology, it’ll feel like a downgrade, and you paid to have the nicer one.”
8: Drive to the store and pick up my brand-new Series 2.
Simple. ;-)
