And I was right, Space Gray was temporarily a pin color Apple offered. Here's a first gen black with a very definitely not SBSS pin.

Honestly I think it could work. The S8 design uses less metal than the S0 because the back is mostly ceramic, so it could be a fair bit cheaper. Especially if they do like the ceramic and use a steel cage with a shell of gold instead.

I just go by what it says on the package. In this case the band is Green.
