If you think Apple „intended“ to sell the Ultra only to athletes and adventurers, you are crazy. 😉
I see the Ultra as the "aspirational" model, in the same way that BMW and Porsche make aspirational cars.

Most of the people who buy an Ultra will never use it to its fullest potential. They won't climb a mountain, run a competitive marathon or dive any deeper than a swimming pool. But they'll like knowing they could do it, and enjoy the athletic image the watch gives off. Look at me, I lead an active lifestyle!

With that said, I'm sorely tempted to get one for the battery life alone. A watch I don't need to charge on a weekend trip, and can stream music on LTE during a long workout with battery to spare? Sold!

Finally pulled the trigger on a SS after always owning the aluminum versions - shouldn’t have waited so long! I tried a 45mm aluminum for a week but decided that size was a little bulky, and since I decided to go with SS, I expected the extra weight of the 45mm would make it worse.

The truth is that the Ultra has a few advantages for everyone, no matter how they use their Watch. Battery life is one, but for me the brighter, flat screen is even more important as legibility is improved a lot. I still love the elegance of the Stainless Steel model, but when I look at that screen now all I see is glare.

Agreed on battery life and screen. The difference is quite noticeable when I go from my Ultra to one of my SS models. With that said the glare doesn't bother me that much and I truly enjoy both models for different reasons. Variety is the spice of life after all.

PS - I'll never use the Ultra as marketed but as has been stated, the vast majority of owners won't.

I’m one of those who will rarely use the extreme features added to the ultra.
I run, but only through summer and not marathon distances.
I swim, but don’t dive.
I’m in no way, shape or form into mountaineering.

But the style, better screen, bigger case and better battery, were all huge draws over the stainless steel model I’d promised myself for this upgrade.

Would love to say I could go on a weekend trip without my charger, but I can't. I run almost every day and have LTE and everything on at the watch, but doesn't listen to music while running and still have a hard time hitting 48 hours with it.

Might be a heavy user of it during the day, but 48 hours is a stretch

That size looks good on you.

Too many people buy the larger size, when it looks (in my opinion) too big on them.

Hope you enjoy it.

I've been using the Ultra for a couple of months now and absolutely love it. Coming from a Series 2 it certainly was a huge leap forward. I like its sturdiness, industrial design, the huge and extremely readable flat screen... and of course the battery.

In my opinion, it's one of the best products Apple has ever made.
