Yea unfortunately you’re right. It’s a hard band to come by for a decent deal for the 42mm variant.
Shame, I really like that band too
There's a used one that is open for bidding that says it's in excellent condition, but you can see dried water/sweat stains on it.

Yea I see it, not so excellent in my opinion, just keep an eye on it. Something good might pop up!
Side note: that is a rather long window to take medication...

And was Cool Gray ever sold standalone to where someone would buy it and not need it for their watch to function and leave it aside?

I think yours is just scuffed halfway down to the bare steel. These early Space Gray pins were notorious for doing that. The SBSS pins probably do it too, just less.
That said, Space Gray pins aren't as shiny as Space Black i dont think.
Imo space black and space gray pins are identical

My Series 8 Stainless on one of my magnetic leather link straps - umber I think. I have California Poppy and Midnight as well, as well as a couple of sport loops in blue and Pride, plus a couple of sport bands of various colours. I like the stainless on leather more than the others, though. I'll likely get rid of this and replace it with an Ultra next month as a companion to my Fenix 7X. I like the option of cellular on training runs closer to home. I've really enjoyed this stainless, though. The temptation to keep it for "smarter" days is strong.
