    earth, for now.
I've found a few options for backing up the SHSH blob, but all of the methods use WINDOWS?! Anyone know of a MAC option?

There is a Mac version of TinyUmbrella 03.13.81 available here which does exactly what you want :-

    Thank you, muchly appreciated! :)

Ok so I do have a few more questions. When I did the SHSH Blob, I now have a file on my desktop, which I named so I would remember what it was... and the extension is *.SHSH and the file size is somewhere between 60-70KBS... and when I open it in TextEdit its a bunch of jibberish.. well not entirely, but its a lotta numbers.

Ok, so if this is my SHSH Blob.. in the event that I need to refer back to this to do a factory reset, how do I use this file?!

    Thanks again!

You don't need this file to do factory reset.

This is the same question that I have.

I know that SHSHblobs is used when we try to restore to a lower version of fimrware that Apple Offers (e.g. if Apple releases 4.0, then in order to restore iPad to 3.2, we need to use this SHSH). But Im not sure how the *.shsh file should be used? Where should we place it in our Mac?

In the future, when I decide to restore to a lower version of firmware, will there be a box pop-up ask me to locate the SHSH blobs in order to continue?

Can I go back in time?

    I am stuck!
I have a jailbroken iphone 3GS (using spirit) running 3.1.3
but it is not carrier unlocked so I cant use it as a phone at all just as an ipod touch...
I screwed up when I updated through itunes without updating my shsh.
Is there anyway I can go back to 3.1.2?
Could there be a fix in the future?
Fuzzyband doesn't work cause I have a newer Boot loader
    Help me someone!

Unless you have the SHSH blobs for 3.1.2 there is no way to go back. And there is no way to downgrade the baseband to an unlockable version.

The SHSH blobs are to be used with a program that comes with TinyUnbrella. I forget it's name but it's reccommended to just select Cydia as the output in Umbrella and just edit your hosts file so iTunes looks at Cydia instead of Apple
