im trying to restore my Shuffle. I keep getting the error code 1429.

What can I do?

Ensure iTunes is fully up-to-date. Try restarting your computer with reopen windows when logging back in unticked (assuming you're on OS X). Otherwise, just restart your computer.

Try on a different computer if you have one. Try a different cable as well, if you have one.

I bought it at London Drugs.
One of the guys in the computer dept. reformatted it. Added some tunes in the car. Seems good now.

Performing disk repair and / or reformatting before restoring in iTunes is the solution.

I've done it on ones that don't light up or flash green and amber then appear dead and they all start working and light up as normal.

If on a mac plug in your ipod shuffle and open 'disk utility'. Select your shuffle from the list on the left (if its greyed out select it and click 'mount'. If its not there make sure its powered on and remove it from the dock and reinsert it) and click 'first aid'. See if it comes up in itunes and click 'restore'. If you get the 1429 error again repeat above but this time click 'erase'. Change file format to MS-DOS (guid partition if asked). 'Unmount' and remove from the dock and reinsert. Go to itunes, select the ipod and click 'restore'.

Job done good as new on the few that I've seen.

Good luck!
