I wasn't sure if this was the right forum for this. Perhaps it should go in the accessories section. Either way, I have a 2019 Mac Pro that is experiencing persistent shutdown issues when my external hard drives are mounted. I have a WD My Book Duo Thunderbolt drive (attached via a TB2 to TB3 adaptor) and a WD My Book USB-C drive used as a Time Machine backup drive. The machine will not shut down with these drives mounted. If I eject both of them before shutdown, the machine shuts down fine. Perhaps a little slower than I would have imagined on a machine like this, but it shuts down nonetheless.

Should I just invest in some up-to-date TB3 drives for my storage and backup purposes? Is it a firmware issue? Something else?
Does anyone have any similar issues? Is there a better forum for this question?
