Shuts off after being unplugged

A couple of weeks ago are computer would shut off 2 seconds after being unplugged. It happens every time. Any ideas?
 
You have a dead battery, a bad PMU, or the connector between the battery and the logic board is busted.

The computer is out of warranty. If we take it into a apple store to get it looked at will we have to pay anything for them to figure out what the issue is?
