Shutting down takes forever

Any other rMB-owners experience shutdowns that take forever?
I just tried to shut my computer down: took over 10 minutes (!)
after which I force shut it down by holding down the power button.

Try resetting PRAM.

Shut it down. And then right after you press the power button to boot it up, hold down Command-Option-P-R until you hear a second start-up chime.

10 minutes? Wow. I read your title and assumed you were talking about the abnormally long shutdown (my iMac is 2-3 seconds, my Macbook Air was 2-3 seconds, my Macbook is 7-10 seconds).

10 minutes is definitely not right. Likely something in the system hanging.

I had this when I used the old Tuxera NTFS. Upgrading to the paid version solved it.
